Welcome to CMT Farms Black Angus Bull and Female Sale, March 22, 2023 at the farm, Cochin, Saskatchewan. This is the 9th annual bull sale for this great family operation… breeding and building their high standard herd of Angus seedstock.

The lineup is stout and exciting featuring first sons from new sires and prospects by the proven bulls walking the hills east of Cochin. Genetic diversity has had no effect on the power and uniformity of the offering. Several bulls produced through their embryo program will be features and deserve close attention. These are stacked performance genetics as you can see in their weaning and yearling weights without sacrificing calving ease.

The heifers on offer are paternal sisters to the bulls and will make front pasture junior projects for all ages. Since our national cowherd inventory is very low, the commercial heifers (that will be ready to breed) will be an asset in years to follow… you can rest assured that they will have high maternal values.

Stop by the farm anytime prior the sale and have Chad give you a tour or just give him a call to discuss the lineup and the bulls that will fit in your program.

If we may be of assistance prior to, or sale day, feel free to contact any of the T Bar Team or myself, we will help you in a professional manner.

Sale Management

We will be hosting our 9th Annual Bull and Female Sale March 22nd, at the Ranch.

We would like to thank our previous buyers and supporters of our program, we would not continue without your support.

This is a very strong set of bulls from top to bottom. We are continually in search of ways to improve our program from year to year to advance our genetics through the best walking bulls we can source that fit our budget, embryo transfer, and AI. All to make our purebred and commercial herd stronger and more consistent.

Our goal is to produce cattle that are balanced for birth weight, weaning growth, fertility, and above all put more money in our commercial customers pockets. Whether that is from selling steers, or building their replacement pen.

Feel free to call, or better yet come to our place anytime prior to the sale and check out the cattle.

Powerhouse of a bull. Long deep sided son of Gunslinger. 244K is a bull that will add pounds to your calf crop in the fall. His dam is a good uddered hard working third calver that has done an excellent job on her 2 calves. She calved on her first cycle and is bred right up this year

Two flush brothers out of our donor cow CSE 5Z. These two are very hard to put a hole in. Here is a chance to get a piece of 5Z’s offspring crossed with Barricade that won’t disappoint.

Cmt Freedom 219k

Two flush brothers out of old TC Freedom 104. We took a chance on flushing 5Z to Freedom and it sure worked. Big, brutey, power bulls with lots of hair and good bone.

This bull is packed with red meat and muscle like his sire that sold to Grant Lodge. Out of an excellent Monarch daughter that has been very productive here.

Sire

Gunslinger was our pick and a high seller from Payne’s in 2020. He was a big bodied, soggy bull out of in our opinion their best cow, 28Z. The few heifers that we calved here this year really look the part and are the type we like. We lost him his first breeding season to a torn loin. Thankfully, we have semen in the tank and we will be using him a lot this spring. We really like his calves.

Barricade is a total outcross to the majority of our cows, and we are impressed with his bull and heifer calves. They are consistent in birth weight, thick, moderate in height, big bodied, and easy fleshing.

218 was our pick of Poplar Meadows bulls in 2020. His dam is one of Tanya’s top cows and dam of many high sellers. His first heifers are calving this year and are quiet, milky, and good uddered.

Sire

We used Roper on our heifers for 2 years and never touched a calf. We got way more heifers than bull calves out of him and the first ones are calving this year. We like his daughters, they are early gestation, quiet, and good uddered.

VALLEY BLOSSOM LADY 33Y

316 is a bull we selected out of the ‘21 Short Grass sale. He’s a powerful, long, deep-sided bull with a ton of hair. He’s out of a proven 10 year old that Stan likes a lot. His calves gained really well, as they caught up to the older calves and are a month younger. He’s going with a large group of cows this Spring, as his calves are impressing us big time.

Sire

We selected 8112 out of Johnson’s Final Bull Sale as we thought he was a total stand out. He’s a calving ease bull that only has a few calves in this year’s sale, but we have more hitting the ground this year. His calves are super long, moderate, and believe they should be strong maternally.
