Welcome to the Sale
Please accept this as your personal invitation to join us for our major herd reduction sale. It has been a difficult decision to offer these females that have built our herd. We want to offer females of the highest quality in our sales and felt this was the best way to do it. These are highly, highly proven females from which we have retained daughters and granddaughters. There will also be 15 high quality bred heifers on offer. It is an exciting time to be in the cattle business with record commercial cattle prices. There has never been a better time to sell cull cows and replace them with quality females! I read a while back that the world population has eclipsed 8 billion people and it only took 12 ½ years to go from 7 billion people to 8 billion people. Please take a moment to think about how this huge snow ball effect is rapidly taking place! I don’t go into a grocery store but maybe twice a month. The first place I head is to see the meat display. For the last five years or so, choice ribeyes have been $15.00 to $20.00 per pound and in the next aisle is pork for $2.50 and chicken for $1.25. Americans have a huge appetite for beef. We would be remiss not to thank all of our previous customers. Ninety percent of our sales are to people that I have never met. They call on the phone - tell me what they want and we deliver. I always tell them that if they do not like the cattle when they arrive - leave them on the trailer. And the trailer always comes back empty! We are proud of our herd and I am incredibly humbled with world wide interest in our type of Fleckvieh cattle.I love it when people call and ask, “Are you that Fleckvieh guy?” I have a lot to be thankful for, one of which is you, for reading this! If you have never seen our herd - you are now personally invited. And we will leave the light on for you!

For the last 25 years I have made at least one trip to Canada per year, sometimes two. I always have certain animals that I want to see in person but also try to visit 3 or 4 farms that I have never been to. Usually I can visit 8-12 farms per trip. And you never know what you might find! 9 or 10 years ago I remember going to Troy Cernes and admiring his Amego daughters and what nice udders that they had. So that led me to go to Andy Oslanski to see his mother - Massey 229P who in my opinion was and still is the best South African cow that I had seen. So low and behold about 5 to 6 years after that I go to Spruceburn Ranah and Donna has this fantastic son of 229P called Classic. At that time Classic was 2 ½ years old and Donna showed me his first calves and I am thinking wow. Of course I tried to purchase the bull and tried every angle that I could think of but Donna was having absolutely none of it! But true to her word I got an email saying she had so many daughters and would sell the bull. All along Donna kept telling me he was the best bull she had ever used and I said Donna, how can you say that when you had SAF 73H? (If you can find his semen expect to pay $1,000+) Donna’s reply was, “it is really easy, Stanley - SAF 73H sired some great females but not good bulls.” Classic sires both! When I could not buy Classic, at first I then proceeded to buy Classic’s best son, Luckenbach whom we had great success with. We have kept his best son Joseph (who’s mother is a Treasure daughter) and is our main heifer bull and the service sire to several of the bred heifer calves. Be sure to check her out! Unfortunately, Classic’s semen will not freeze so the only two places to secure his genetics are Red Deer County, Alberta and Postville, Iowa. REGISTRATION # 3734527

Your opportunity to own one of the best producing Fleckvieh females in North America, Kuntz Ms Moses 03X. Ms Moses produced four sons by Adonis 96Z that averaged $24,750. Five daughters of Ms Moses that have sold at auction have averaged over $10,000. Four other daughters are donors for major breeders. And their production has been nothing short of amazing! Trevor Kuntz tells me that every year it seems like their top selling bull is out of a Ms Moses daughter. This year a Ms Moses daughter produced a bull that sold for $32,500, others have sold for $36,000 and $22,000. They are getting it done! And it’s only going to get better! We had 14 calves born this year, so we now have 16 daughters and two sons in our herd. We also planted another seven embryos , on top of that Ms Moses gave us 15 female sex embryos on her last flush done last month. Jewel, our first daughter of Ms Moses, gave 24 female sexed embryos in her first flush. Production is strong in these genes. Ms Moses 03X is a herd building, money making machine! Golden Dawn Ms Moses
This is a very attractive 2 year old, direct daughter of Ms Moses herself.. This is Ms Moses’ natural calf sired by OVS Titan. This will be one of the last Titan daughters to be offered. Inside the back cover of this catalog are pictures of seven herd bulls that we have used to build the herd. Each of the seven were purchased as proven herd sires. What an advantage it is when you can go to a breeder and see calves on the ground but the best part is being able to see young daughters in production. Is he an udder improver? What do the feet and legs look like? And so on. Each year there are lots of yearling bulls sold for big money, most of them you do not hear about again. So it is two steps forward and one step back. With proven bulls it is three steps forward. This is a great young female who’s maternal sister’s production has been “lights out”. Proven production on both sides of the pedigree. Sells with a fancy, fancy heifer calf at side sired by Josef. A bull you will hear more about in the future. The power of production of 03X daughters is clearly on display with this heifer calf!

Hack’s Kerstin is a very special female. She is the last daughter of Kerstin that we have. Kerstin is stunning to look at, has a beautiful udder and a great disposition. We had every intent to flush her but that never happened. Please note that her pedigree is 100% German. The Fleckvieh cattle in Germany were selected for dairy, beef and draft. Kerstin’s grandmother Lilli-Marlen is a cow that looks like she could “pull a plow” and perfectly exemplifies the type of Fleckvieh we are producing. Gary Cooper told me that he paid $2,250 for the straw of Hackeberg semen that produced Hack’s Kerstin. P.E. 5/6/23 Classic

SpruceBurn Sheleen was one of last year’s sales catalog, “Cover Girls.” Sheleen was out pick of Spruceburn’s bred heifers that year. Bill and Donna McMurtry have one of the most practical Fleckvieh herds that I have seen. We have used Sheleen’s sire Crown Royal with good results as evidenced by several Crown Royal heifers, in the bred heifer section. Sheleen really exemplifies what we expect our Fleckvieh to do; stay in a fleshy condition while raising a big calf on grass. If you are looking for a female to build a herd around, Sheleen should be on your list. On top of being a great “looker” Sheleen has been a great producer. Her last three calves have netted $23,500. The next two cows are maternal sisters. I purchased their mother as a standout heifer calf from B-Bar-C in Albert and what a job she has done. I think her first five calves were all bull calves (some of our best) but I still wanted heifer calves. So must have B-Bar-C Brett and Chris Houchia as they came to our first sale and bought her back. Zayit looked good this summer as an eleven year old and her mother was 16. They would not stay around till that age if they are not doing anything right. Dependable. P.E. 5/6/23 Classic

Her mating with Adonis 96Z has created the most excitement that I have seen around here. The dark red color is one of the hardest traits to solidify in Fleckvieh. Last spring a very sharp cowboy came to select a bull. One of the bulls was Treasure’s son. Treasure was the next pen so I pointed her out and mentioned the consistency in her offspring. I told him we could count on Treasure to add udder quality, disposition, feet and legs and color. He said that is all we really need, I will take the bull! The few Crown Royal daughters that we have had, have been outstanding. Kate has a unique birth mark on the right side of her neck.
