What a difference a year makes!

After a bit of head scratching and weighing of our options, the decision was made to bring the bull sale home to the farm. We really appreciate everything that Dryland did to promote our business in the Veteran area over the last six years and it is our hope that we can continue our relationship with the folks “down south”.

We are very happy that the Mawbey family of Bronyx Angus will again be joining us. They are bringing a super group of hairy, easy doing, docile 2 year old Angus bulls that were selected from Canadian genetics, so you know they’ll stand up to our conditions.

We have 2 new herdsire groups that we’re very excited about this year. What we really appreciate about both is that they’re siring females that are every bit as eye appealing as we’d hoped. A lot of you have seen and heard of Game Day, the high selling bull from Legacy Charolais’ 2020 sale and the hair and disposition that he throws is second to none. The Gallagher bull from Wilgenbusch Charolais is hands-down the best footed bull we’ve seen, and he passes that on to his progeny.

We feel like over the last handful of years, the Charolais breed seems to be searching for the next big thing or the flavour of the month. We are constantly working on building solid cow families and feel like the true measure of a great bull is in the cowherd that you build with his daughters. In our opinion, this isn’t something that can be rushed and as a good friend said, “it’s more like a slow burn”.

We have been committed to breeding Charolais cattle for over 40 years now and the sheer number of new breeders tells us that staying the course was the right decision for our operation. Take advantage of our decades of selection for the traits that built the breed and our reputation along with it. Our cattle are functional, solid, good footed and easy to work with - we have already done the homework for you.

Please join us on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 for our sale. With space considerations, we will be going to a video sale in our heated shop and the bulls will be penned for viewing nearby. Do your chores, hop in the car and join us for lunch at 12:30 and then the sale at 2. If you have time afterward, please stick around for a visit and some hospitality. The sale will be broadcast on DLMS for anyone who cannot attend in-person.

Of course, visitors to the farm are always welcome if you’d like a tour prior to the sale. Please reach out to either Andrew or Robbie if you’d like an independent assessment of any of the bulls.

We look forward to welcoming our loyal customers and getting to know new ones. We love what we do and appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for your faith in our program!
