It is grand, and exciting, but casts a shadow of concern, too, over the unknown. The narratives are upon us, offering clues, as well as solutions, for seemingly contrasting themes. The coming years may be trying, but design and color will offer ideas to rethink discord, consider your evolutionary self, seek moments of refuge and contemplation, and still embrace celebration and joy. Color Narratives are the pathways to being Future Savvy.

With stress a daily occurrence for many, and with uncertain times and new technologies, we will require moments of peace and quiet, however brief, to re-set and reconsider our next move, or stage of life. Yoga has become not only a way to deal with stress, but a booming business as well. From clothing, to holidays, to private enclaves in home and office, they all serve to deliver us from anxiety. Architecture and design will play an increasing role in calming our overworked nerves, and providing moments of Quietude. Translucence, and light hues infused with color, will create visual ease, yet are balanced with grounded hues to keep you on solid footing. Flowing designs that move the eye effortlessly, curved lines and patterns, and simple combinations will soothe our psyche, matte finishes will add a softer glow to surfaces, feeling more intimate and less artificial. Reality matters, and easy-going reality matters most.
Born of international political unrest, Discord has morphed into a style that celebrates being slightly “off.” We will make a statement, seek beauty, and create it, in discordant ways. “Wrong is right.” “Make a hot mess.” “Forget the box altogether.” These are rally cries for times that call for action, and for action to help create engaged, exciting designed spaces, with colors you don’t expect. From the art world, to politics, to fashion, the ideal is gone, the correct thing is splintered, and design will embrace it as a turning point for loving something slightly off. Imbalance will reign supreme and hues will appear as color “half-notes,” not feeling quite right, while actually feeling perfectly right. Unexpected pattern and scale with further the imbalance, but with a discerning eye, will nevertheless, balance.
Human, rewired is the exploration, and evolving narrative, of the interaction of humans and their technologies, and the approaching merging of the two. I love my tech, I hate my tech, and my tech is a part of me. The convenience of our tech will allow us to perform better than we can now, in homes and offices capable of knowing our every desire, as well as tracking our every movement. New embedded technologies in our spaces, and our bodies, will allow constant connectivity and greater health. To ease life, we invite these advancements to create a better existence and better world.
Delight in design and moments of color joy. Rainbow Maximus is about living life to the fullest. Pattern and color are celebrated and become an antidote to minimal, strict experiences and environments. From “eat the rainbow” to rainbow hued foods, the movement is growing and offering bold options for celebration. And as a reaction to simple living, maximalism will make a larger case for itself. Already rumbling, it joins in a rainbow of colors to create spaces that are unapologetic, bold, and intensely personal. Rainbow colors take on a new direction as they shed their primary roots for more sophisticated versions of themselves. Slightly lush, they are the accompaniment to the bold patterns, textures, and finishes that create a maximal space.
