discovered marrying craft and couture, combining earthiness with luxurious qualities - a style that is both soothing and feels special, it satisfies a deep need for comfort and glamor. Above all, it is a trend that encourages us to live life in the moment, at a natural pace, making time to appreciate both rawness and refinement. A sense of softness is crucial – cocooning qualities and enveloping features that welcome and protect us. Craftsmanship is a key consideration as traditional craft techniques are explored in order to produce modern outcomes. The discreet use of both archive designs and patterns inspired by nature, in quiet neutrals, pastels and metallics, make this a trend full of amicable contradictions and a subtle sense of splendor. Textures and materials plead to be stroked and gazed upon admiringly: Silvered & finely crackled finishes reveal colored layers beneath the surface; Copper & bronze effect tiles introduce rich metallics, whilst light gold leaf effects appear crushed & flaking; Tightly curled or crimped long haired furs and wools result in luxurious rugs whilst soft laser cut felting adds a contemporary look; Deep, dense cut pile carpets deliver reassuring comfort; Pearlized finishes add a pleasing sheen to tiles; Chalky matte finishes are favoured; Blonde wood tones dominate – their PALE BEAUTY grounds this trend.
TREND: dispatched a visual battle that forces opposing qualities together it is at once glamorous and brutal, tough and inviting, rugged and lavish. It projects a mood of mystery and revelation. The quest into the past for creative inspiration continues as Designer’s fascination with historical styles shows no signs of diminishing. Darkness and light do battle, as femininity confronts masculinity new design unions are formed, and both delicacy and overstatement are embraced. Medieval influences meet Elizabethan and Baroque design, and through a potent mix of dusk darks (from pitch black and midnight blue to claret), dusted-off antiqued pastels, and armor-like heroic metallics we explore this trend’s captivating style. Textures and materials create clashes of sumptuous softness, strong rigidity, opulent ornamentation, and stark plainness: Deep cut pile rugs are bejewelled with sparkling crystals; Blackened steel-look and warm metallic surfaces appear uneven and tarnished – presenting a pleasing patina; Elaborately shaped tiles referencing Medieval motif, architectural features and octagonal forms, enable unusual configurations to be created; Crackled glazes add surface interest to plain colored tiles; Carpet and rugs are embellished with stylized scrollwork, dense floral patterns and marbleized patterns in graduated tones; Faux quilted & chainmail textures and lace patterns are deeply embossed onto tiles; Dark tones of wood flooring proudly display NATURAL IMPERFECTIONS, signs of wear and aging.
