Living under a Roof Experiment of Co-Housing Independent Work--directed by Marcos Parga 8 Weeks 2022

How do we live together? It seems that this is a question that has already been resolved, our way of living has been defined and normalized. But can there be another solution? The Project experiment a way of Co-Living in an isolated environment. It intends to define a new relationship between nature and architecture. nature and architecture shouldn’t be separated from each other. Architecture could feel the nature, and nature could respond to the architecture. 5

Healing City

Slivers Price 1st Price Project Independent Work 3 Days 2022

This project is an imagination under the topic of future architecture. What defines the distinction between architecuture and nature? “Liveness” excludes architecture from nature because architecture can never grow like plants. What if the material can grow from itself? When architectural material is able to grow organically, absorbing soil from the earth and gradually transforming itself into concrete, the megastructure grows like a tree and eventually form space for human. The architecture is no longer an artificial existence, but a natural organ intervened by human actions, like a cubic watermelon. Even an architecture can grow organically like nature life, it will still be manipulated into a space for human. It will still be defined as: architecture.

Landmark Preservation ----Cooperative work Manhattan, 2023 The project is located in Manhattan East Village. in 2018, a Church was destroyed by fire and what remains is the facade of the church. The design intends to create a connection not only to the church facade itself, but also the meaning that supports it until today-The East Village Community Our Proposal is a direct response to the community needs, which is to reopen a public space for people to gather. We focus on our design of an Amphitheater that connects to the street and shared by all the people in the community. It also engages people who work here and visitors to participate into the public activities and create interaction.

The Strategy of designing this space is inspired from the urban planning of New York City. While Avenue is designed to serve for commercial and cultural use, Street is more private and residential. We define these avenue-public and street-private lines. Then develop a diagnal line that connect these two lines together. 13

When we Grow Old

we dont need anyone look after me, but someone look out of me ----Cooperative work London, 2023 14

The crowdness and living quality has pushed many elderly to move into the suburb area around London. Our site, the highgate station located on the North of London, has attracted many elderly to reside here because of its conviency of transportation and flourish of greenery when they were young. However, these benefits are becoming less accessible for the people when they grow old: the mountainous topography, inaccessibility of transportation access, and the insufficiency of elderly facilities around this area. In addition, our research shows that a large percentage of elderly around this area live with there family. This project is a elderly-oriented community center and intends to provide a place where elderly can share their days together. Unlike nursing home, the elderly-oriented community encourages elderly to independently use and share the space, and look out of each other. Based on this concept, we emphasize three essential elements in our design: Accessibility, Community, Nature.

Micro Home

cooperative work 2022 22

“Micro Home” comprises two main rotating cylindrical modules, along with an additional fixed module that contains essential facilities such as a toilet, shower, and other immobile equipment. This combination ensures the inclusion of necessary amenities while still allowing for the flexibility and adaptability of the living space. The rotating module in middle providing a Living area with a sofa and TV for relaxation and entertainment, a cooking area equipped with a compact kitchenette, and a working area. The window-side rotating module takes advantage of natural light and views, incorporating a working area faced to outside, a Living area with a dining table for meals and socializing, and a sleeping area. By independently rotating these two module, occupants can explore nine possible combinations and spatial arrangements, each with its distinctive flow and interactive elements. With this configuration, micro home provides residents with a comprehensive living experience that caters to their various needs throughout the day. The ability to rotate these modules allows for easy transitions between different activities and the exploration of unique spatial arrangements, enhancing the adaptability and personalization of the living space. 23

SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY OFFICIAL BUS MAP ----map competition cooperative work Syracuse, 2022 This is the winning project of the Syracuse Map Design Competition in 2022. The competition intends to develop a Syracuse Map that connect the downtown and Syracuse University through the map. Because of the border of the highway and the distance between university and downtown. Few students are willing to go downtown or even don’t know where it is after school years. The map not only provides information, but also encourages students to explore downtown in different ways. However, I am still waiting for it to be posted...
