Eldon Elton "Bud·�' Barnes
"Bud" Barnes will always be remembered for his sharp wit and keen sense of humor. He was a long time member of the Tacoma Athletic Commission, serving as its president from 1984-85. He accomplished many things during his reign, especially re-instituting the Cadillac Dinner, a big fund raiser. He delighted in being a part of a prank even if he was the "goat." Bud was always a part of the Golden Gloves. having served as the Ticket Chairman in 1982, 1983 and 1984. Eldon Elton "Bud" Barnes was born in Morton, Washington October 11, 1926. As a youngster he moved to Tacoma and attended Mccarver Elementary School. After graduating from Bellarmine in 1944, he entered the College of Puget Sound. After three years of study he left college and became a fireman for a short time and then became an 'officer in the Tacoma Police Department. He was an officer for 16 years. then left the T.P.D. to join the State Farm Insurance Company and became an attorney negotiator. He remained in that position for 20 years. "Bud" died on October 13. 1986. He will be missed.
