THREE UNBEATENS FAVORED
A trio of unbeaten teams shares the role of favorite for the 1981 state A championship with Cashmere's defending champs sidelined in district competition. Highland, Lynden and Stevenson are the "big three:· all with 23-0 records. And they all boast of tournament experience and outstanding individual talent. Stevenson's Glenn Stump, a 6-3 forward, has im pressive scoring credentials. He averaged 31.2 points per game during the regular season. The 6-6 star of the Lynden Lions is Joe Whitney, touted as another Tim Evans (the ex-Blaine all-stater), with a 20.6 scoring average. Highland's Scott Cline, a 6-0 guard who sparkled in last year's tourney here, returns with a 21.2 per game average. Here's how they qualified: NORTHWEST 1. Lynden (23-0) 2. Nooksack Valley (16-7) 3. King's (22-2) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
SOUTHWEST Stevenson (23-0) Ridgefield (19-5) White Salmon (17-7) Raymond (19-5) Castle Rock (13-12) North Mason (16-8)
NORTH CENTRAL 1. Chelan (20-3) 2. Leavenworth (19-5) 1. 2. 3. 4.
SOUTH CENTRAL Highland (23-0) Colfax (15-8) Kiana-Benton (17-6) Goldendale (15-8)
