Any resident of the TADL service area is entitled to a free library card. Register in person at any of our 6 locations or online at www.tadl.org/register. Make sure to bring your photo ID with name, birth date, and current address. A library card is issued on the spot and can be used and enjoyed right away! Patrons under the age of 18 must obtain a parent’s or legal guardian’s consent.

You are responsible for all materials checked out on your library card. All library materials borrowed are FREE, however late fees are imposed if items are not returned or renewed on time. RENEW + AVOID THE LATE FEES Most items (other than “Hots”) can be renewed up to 6 times if no one else has placed a hold on that item. Renew via your online account, in person, or by calling your library. CREATE AN ONLINE ACCOUNT Obtain your username and password from any service desk at any of our 6 locations. Use your account to access online resources, search our collection, place item holds, renew items, view checked out items, due dates and pay fines.

Welcome to Your Traverse Area District Library. A network of community libraries, TADL serves visitors and residents of Grand Traverse County through six locations: Main (Woodmere), East Bay, Kingsley, Fife Lake, Interlochen, Peninsula, and online at www.tadl.org. Together these libraries ensure coordinated access to information and lending collections for our District’s patrons.
COLLECTIONS TO EXPLORE Borrow from hundreds of thousands of books, magazines, movies, and music and a growing collection of downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and music. ACCESS TO INFORMATION From small business development to personal investing, from learning a new language to repairing a classic car, TADL offers online and lending resources and qualified librarians to teach you to use them. WIFI + PUBLIC COMPUTERS Use a computer or access free WiFi at any of our libraries; build skills through online tutorials and events at your library.
CLASSES + WORKSHOPS Learn new skills by attending regularly offered small business, genealogy, writing, and digital resource instruction workshops.

PROGRAMS + EVENTS Attend regular storytimes, early literacy learning programs, book discussions, local author and musician events. Look forward to attending and getting involved with annual events presented by TADL featuring Summer Reading Club for all ages and our Poets’ Night Out contest and public reading.
We are the Grand Traverse region’s largest lender of all forms of information and entertainment. Your TADL card lets you borrow quality materials from any of our 6 locations. Check out your favorite books, CDs, DVDs and video games or download them right to your home computer or device.
ARTS + CULTURE Many of our libraries regularly host local artists for public art exhibitions.

GENEALOGY + LOCAL HISTORY With assistance from the Grand Traverse Genealogy Society (GTAGS), use your library to trace your family roots and explore the history of our area with research tools and resources highlighting Michigan and the Grand Traverse region. TALKING BOOK LIBRARY Provides free recorded books to visually and physically impaired patrons in Grand Traverse, Antrim, Benzie, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, and Wexford Counties. · Loans, fines, and limits are uniform throughout the TADL system. · Borrowers are limited to a maximum of 40 items on their account. · Pick up & check out holds using the account that the hold was placed with. · Holiday materials are placed in “hot” status while seasonal.
· Fines remain if renewal is late. Maximum overdue fine per item, $10. · Courtesy overdue email notices are sent 3 days in advance of the due date. No email address? You will receive a phone notification 1 day after the due date and a postal notice 7 days after the due date.
