‘KOKOON’ is a modular living unit built to address the current housing situation in Finland. Today there is an acute shortage of temporary accommodations for asylum seekers, students and residents displaced by building renovations. The pre-fabricated Kokoon modules are designed as a short term living solution (up to one year) that can be easily transported and stacked into various configurations in order to fit numerous sites in urban and sub-urban contexts. Three prototype units were finished in Otaniemi in summer 2016 then transported and assembled within one day at the Museum of Finnish Architecture and the Design Museum. The units are open to visitors during the summer of 2016 and will

‘Workshop-for-All’ is a research-based project. The goal of the project is to plant seeds of new design thinking in people’s mind by opening up a new discourse and possibility from the investigation and analysis on the current situation. Therefore, the establishment of social agreement towards better future through the research is more important than giving a conclusion with finished design outcomes for this project. The basic proposition is that human have creativity to create what they are in need. Humans are able to use materials around them to make something with tool-using nature. However, the idea of modern economics, mass-production of products under the system of division of labor to maximize productivity, hinders this human’s nature. Only ‘efficiency’ and ‘productivity’ cannot lead us to the better future and we know that we have to make a change to cope with the problems of the modern economics, which we are undergoing. For this reason, I decided to bring human’s hand-crafting culture back to design again to recover humans’ tool-using culture and spiritual values. Furthermore, I suggest to establish an online-platform to share knowledge and information regarding using hand-crafting tools and machines, and a variety of joinery systems people can try. Specifically, I explored simple wood joineries of architectural structures and furniture of design field, which are self-explanatory with their simple geometric forms. The concept of this idea is based on ‘open source system’.. This platform encourages people to create what they need in practice. People who have tools and facilities can try it themselves, but people with any tools are invited to places where they can get help and use tools to build what they need. The online platform also functions as a place to have a discussion with others and as a meeting point to share knowledge and information together with others. In this project, I challenge the very premise of the modern economics, which producers

The CUBE Sauna Bench concept takes the idea of a melting cube and applies it toward an ergonomic sauna bench for com- fort and ease in a Finnish cultural institution. With the want for a gentle feeling and inerest in textural irregularity, the bench is easily manufactured and added together, while still structurally sound and easily replaceable when needed. The program to which CUBE is applied to is that of a public sauna - idealy ve days per week foreight hours at 80 to 100 degrees centigrade with +90 per- cent humidity. A drying/cooling cycle of 16 hours at 25 degrees/60 percent humidity accompanies the program of the bench. The lattice structure underneath the cubes, which interlock at the lattice joints on top, is replicated
169 pieces of aspen cubes
through a series of cuts at precise measurements to ensure a 90 angle and comforable for the cubes. The cubes are made in four steps, with the later stages being through a guide for ease and efficiency. The species used, in this case aspen, was determined through a series of tests with oher species and grain directions. Coating tests and durability tests were also performed in terms of maximum public sauna usage. The goal of designing a new type of a sauna bench was to overcome a conventional appearance which can be easily seen anywhere. For this reason, block-type seating was suggested and an idea to solve a structural part of the seating was needed. A sauna bench with an elegant, curved surface has a sense of inviting users to sit on through sheer aesthetics and interest. Wooden blocks nicely

shaped into a shape of ice-cube give people a unique haptic experience, a goal of making sauna the best experience possible.

The site is Nakwon market complex which is postitioned in Nakwondong, Seoul, South Korea. The characteristics of the site is that this place is the oldest region in Seoul and the centre of modernization. First, Seoul has been a capital of Korea since Joesun Dyansty(the last dynasty before South Korea), so there are many palaces and old towns near the site. Furthermore, various kinds of cultural infra-structures are concentrated around the site. Besides, since the modernization of South Korea progressed radically around the site, Nakwondong has gained a unique feature, having characteristcs of both classical and modern society. Nakwon market complex has a meaning as a beginning of the modern society in South Korea and it is postitioned in the centre of the cultural surroundings such as Insa-dong, the road of fine art, the palace of Joesun Dynasty and Nakwon music instruments marekt(the biggest music market in South Korea). Considering these things, visitors would be surely a person who is intersted deeply in culture.

Mondrian : Line , Face, and Colors ‘Cinemtheque movement’ started at the beginning of the 20th century in Europe. Thus, the concept of this space is designed with the ethos of the age which this movement brought about. Mondrian’s basic idea was that there are universal essentials which penetrate through all things within what we see and the essentials are ultimately in balance with harmony. Therefore, he tried to put the essential elements within everything into his artworks.
interpretation into spatial design
Through simplifying everything, Mondrian left only three primary colors, red, blue, and black and white with the lines crossing at right angles like an example above. The lobby also is applied with these basic modelings, lines, faces, and basic colors.

2011 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION for BUSAN OPERA HOUSE PROJECT : BUSAN OPERA HOUSE INTERNATIONAL IDEAS COMPETITION DURATION : JUL. 2011 - AUG. 2011 PROGRAM : OPERA HOUSE, MULTI-PURPOSE THEATRE, WATERFRONT WALK, CONVENIENT FACILITIES Design Participation : Design Proposal of Floor Plans, Program Zoning of Back of House Finalizing Floor Plans, Cad Drawing Work, Image Work and Communication (AZPA in Charge : Alejandro Zaera Polo, Maider Ilagumo
Design Team : Pep Wennberg, Taeho Noh, Yejin Kim)
The proposal of 2011 Busan Opera House International Competition is to build a facility which can accomodate extensive art activities and accesible to citizens on the global scale and installations. New Busan Opera House will be the landamrk of Busan which supports the city to be a global and sightseeing city. Furthermore, this project will suggest a structural solution not only to produce a physical presence capable to collect and communicate the city’s cultural legacy but also to satisfy practical issues which is driven by these kinds of “iconic” buildings
North Port of Busan, South Korea
| CATENARY STRUCTURE In this proposal for the future Busan Opera, it has aimed to retrieve consistency between the iconographic and the functional by reducing the pocehe space boy adopting a structural solution for the roofs that will be at once functional and expressive : Opera venues have to span large voids in order to host very large audiences. The structural solution for the problem is to use bi-directional catenary structures that will be able to bridge between the walls that contain the venues with a minimum amount of material workingin tension. This textile roofing technology is one that has been used often in large scale temporary structures, such as circus tents and marquees, but it is also a technology that has developed its own lineage within the history of modern archtecture : Saarinen’s Yale Ice Rink and Dulles Airport, Tange’s Yoyogi stadioum, Siza’s Portuguese Pavillion in Lisbon are all precedents of this tructral strategy.

The proposal is to locate the back of house facilities towards the vehicular access road and the front of house facilities toward the southern tip of the island, looking towards the sea. The foyer will extend both on ground level +6.70, and at +2.50 towards the east and the west of the island, with some convention, exhibition facilities and retail that connect to the perimetral public path. A vehicular drop-off /pick-up zone has been placed to the west of the building, for taxis and private vehicles. Pedestrian visitors to the building will access from the bridge or from the perimetral path via the retail area at level +2.50.
The proposal for the Busan Opera Complex is conceived as world class facility based on established and proven principles of theatre, sightline, acoustical and technical design. This allows much scope for constructive innovation and the development of the interior form, but the design does not compromise on function, or the viewing and listening conditios for the audience.

BACKGROUND Currently, since dormitories of each university have low rate of student accomodation, students have been kicked out to boarding houses and rented rooms. However, most boarding houses and rented houses cannot afford to fulfill students’ needs. Poor residential environments, lack of each residents’ privacy, absence of communication between students and economical burden owing to high monthly rent are the main problems for students to live in appropriate housing environments. To solve these problems, the purpose of this project is to provide students commuting to universities near Sinchon with a student housing

The site is an open land which was a place for a hotel named ‘Mirabo Hotel’. After the hotel was demolished, the site was abandoned for a long time. For now, there is a plan to build an urban living housing for the lower-income bracket, however, this project is to aim university students around the site so that they can have a proper environment to live in. Even though What is the problems for students to find their housing? There must be some trouble even if there are many options attached on the wall due to budget or housing environments

The project is a colloboration with a choreograhper, dancers, and us, interior designers. Throughout the course, We, from three different fields, share our knowledge, how we perceive a ceratin space and how we react to it. For the final project, We settle several rules we have to follow while perfoming, in a space we all together design. We design the space made out of paper, which represent a city as a metapor which is vulnerable and susceptilbe to people outside the boundary. It means people living in the city are always observed by others around themselves and are interacting with them in a certain rule they make.
URBAN VOYEURISM - in to the paper city -
What can you feel in the city? How do you react to the city in your every day life? How do you interact with people inside the city?
Manual for Performers
This manual is an instruction for performers to show their performance, which is simply drawn into digrams, so that performers can practice and remember what they have to do according to changing situations.
Manual for Audience
The manual for audience is given before the performnace starts. What they have to do is exploring the space made out of paper and to watch the performance as if they peep inside the room without getting noticed. the whole performance is available on a link below : https://youtu.be/R9mHxZ2KtuU
