HOUSE OF CULTURE
JARAGUA The House of Culture is a public equipment that pretends to be a space of appropriation for the cultural agents in the several districts of São Paulo. The building tries to take advantage of public transition spaces to promote the meeting through the walkways that allow easy access to all areas of the project and connect the circulation blocks, support and the main halls. The accesses are located in the main points between blocks, descending to the discovered underground which is also a reception square. The structural set - of blind gables and metal beams - and of textures are articulated with other elements creating the façades of the building. The support block, away from the gables, but close to the catwalks, is like an enclosed aquarium with only large windows of translucent glass, also used in the circulation to seal the metal ladder in corten steel, leaving a blurred and colorful effect for those who see the design from the outside.

The floor of the administration and coordination was shown to be the most impaired from the point of view of ventilation and thermal performance, due to the many partitions needed for the work and meeting rooms. To solve this problem, longitudinal windows were designed and positioned on opposite side walls of each of the rooms, to try to ensure cross ventilation throughout the floor.
The double right-foot of the lounges allows activities that require more space to occur without problems. The project tried to take advantage of natural lighting in various spaces, such as in the main halls, in the aquarium - where the double beam and the displacement of the frames of the facade border create almost zenithal illumination - and in the closed ladder with large frames of more opaque glass that only clarifies the earthy color of the corten.
COLLECTIVE HOUSING AT
NESTOR PESTANA A collective housing designed for this old center of SĂŁo Paulo that has gained more prominence in the last decade, modernizing itself and being occupied more and more by young groups interested in the cultural and artistic value of the region. The lot, on a corner, faces Roosevelt Square and the Cultura ArtĂstica theater, and because of these, the project tries to adapt itself to the possible needs of the residents, cultural producers and dynamic people. Some points of how these aspects have been incorporated are a variety of typologies- 3 duplexes and 2 kitnets -, a space for artistic workshops on the second floor and a library of two levels to meet the demands and provide an environment close to a FabLab, public laboratories of learning and inovation. In addition, the inside-court wall can be used as urban art mural and graffiti. Accesses take place through the large external square created inside the lot, with a private entrance for the residents and a public entrance to access the workshops, the shop and the cloakroom and the community laundry. A ramp on the east side of the lot allows the connection between Nestor Pestana and Martins Fontes, separated from the internal square of the building by means of leaked elements, which also appear next to exposed brick, concrete and movable brises, which not only protect from the solar incidence but create a more dynamic and interesting facade and the terrace is a large slab with green roof.

Made of duplex paper, only with creases and cuts, the purpose of the wrapping was to create a design object that would envelop a glass bottle of at least 750ml, forming an interesting and structural monoblock that in some way related to the shape of the bottle or with its contents. From the observation of the shapes and the lower concavity of the container it was possible to arrive in this format that tapers and expands at different moments, creating dynamism. The lower end is designed to prevent the bottle from falling and protects it, while the upper opening is an overlap of folded and engaged triangles that close and open like a rose bud.

STRESSED STRUCTURE

bindings
Starting from the premise of the discovery of the tensions and the maximum limit of the materials involved - bamboo varnishes and cotton thread the exercise proposed the creation of a structure molded by the repetition of modules and that surpassed the minimum gap of 1,80m. Preliminary studies have determined a shape close to a non-equilateral triangular base prism with arcs on top. The final module was the double of the previous ones with the arcs positioned in the greater extension of the base, represented by the line. There would also be another pair of arcs positioned on the bisectors of the other - as you can see in the picture on the right - but they polluted the final form of the bridge, so they were removed, arriving at the final finish of the photo on the left. To ensure greater accuracy in the shape of the arches and thus greater efficiency in the performance of the structure, a template with wood veneer and nails was created.
