Style Setter FOR THE
Cassandra LaValle
Coco + Kelley, cocokelley.com LaValle launched the style blog and accompanying lifestyle company coco + kelley with the words “Life is in the details. Style accordingly.” She knows just the way to mix and match, loves anything sequined, and has a closet that’s to die for. When the holiday season rolls around… I get really excited. There’s something beautiful and cozy and joyful about the holidays! I pull out all my Christmas decor right before Thanksgiving so I can enjoy it for a full month! I’m always looking forward to… Pumpkin pie, the first snowfall, decorating the tree and Christmas music! One thing I do every year is… Spend a whole day baking cookies with my mom. My sister and I still spend the night at my parents on Christmas Eve. Some traditions never die! I’ll never forget the time when… I ate waaaaaay too many tangerines (yes, tangerines - not cookies) and got totally sick on Christmas Day. Lesson learned! One holiday activity I can’t stand is… Sitting on Santa’s lap. I refuse!
To avoid getting stressed around the holidays… Steer clear of bad Christmas music, shop during off hours and don’t over schedule.
The best gift I’ve ever given was… A painting we had made for my parents of the view from my dad’s hometown in Rende, Italy.
The best gift I ever received was… My grandmother’s diamond ring after she had passed away earlier that year. It’s incredibly special to me.

Hostess FOR THE
Camille Styles
Camille Styles, camillestyles.com
With a last name like Styles, Camille was destined to work in the creative industry. She founded the eponymous Camille Styles site, chock full of entertaining ideas and inspiration. When it comes to hosting she believes that parties should be fun rather than stressful. Cheers to that! The holidays are all about… Unplugging from work, turning off Twitter and spending unhurried, unscheduled time with the people I love. I’m always looking forward to… Family and friends coming in to visit from all over the country. Schedules get so crazy trying to spend time with everyone I want to see, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. One holiday activity I can’t stand is… Caroling. The sound of my singing voice does not bring joy to the world.
I’ll never forget the time when… My husband and I hosted Thanksgiving for the first time the year
we got married. Our plumbing got clogged and our only toilet stopped working. The entire meal got pushed back for hours as we waited for the emergency plumber to show up, and on top of all that, we discovered that I’d cooked the turkey with the plastic bag of giblets still inside!
The best gift I ever received was… My husband popped the question right before Christmas, and there was no better feeling than waking up on Christmas morning and seeing the ring on my finger, knowing I’d be spending the rest of my life with the man of my dreams. To avoid getting stressed around the holidays… I buy gifts for my family throughout the year so there’s no last-minute rush. I have so much fun stumbling upon special items when I’m least expecting it, and storing them away until it’s time to wrap them and place under the tree.

Tots
FOR THE
Tori Mellott
Traditional Home, traditionalhome.com
Former domino editor, Mellott is now a senior editor at Traditional Home. You can find her running around New York looking endlessly chic, with sweet little twins Franny and Lucy in tow.
As a kid I spent the holidays… Snooping for presents! I was a sleuth—practically a professional detective! My parents were usually good about keeping everything pretty well hidden, but one year I found my Cabbage Patch Doll. I was so excited I could barely wait until Christmas morning! Now I spend the holidays… Planning ways to surprise and delight my sweet daughters. They are only 9 months old but I want to start the magic early on. One thing I’ve learned about gift giving is… Make sure you are giving a gift that the receiver will want and not something that you think they want! (Exception: infants. My twins do not want monogrammed bed linens right now, but they will be happy later on when I have steered them into having exceptional taste!) The holiday season makes me feel… Giddy with excitement. I don’t get stressed around the holidays but for anyone who does I suggest an online shopping spree, some Burl Ives Christmas music, and a potent glass of eggnog. One good idea for a holiday party is… To throw a fab one and not a sit-down. Never a sit-down! I feel like sit-downs are a bore. People want to be motoring around the room, chatting with different people, checking out the scene, finding out the scoop! Throw a really fun cocktail party with plenty of drinks, food, and good music.
When I’m going to a holiday party I always bring… Wine. I know it’s boring but it’s what makes sense. Everyone is about to drink the poor host and hostess out of house and home; the least a guest could do is replenish the wine cellar! Also, if the hosts have small children it’s always nice to come with a little surprise for the kiddos!

Well Adorned FOR THE
Kelly Lilien
Mrs. Lilien, blog.mrslilien.com
A graphic designer with the sunniest of dispositions, Mrs. Lilien loves a little sparkle. Cocktail in hand, she stands for celebrating the everyday, a platform anyone can get behind. When it comes to baubles, jewels, and gems, The Mrs. is all about classics with a twist.
When the holiday season rolls around… I turn up the proverbial volume on all things spirited and festively renowned. I’m always looking forward to… Hosting a glittering soirée or two! As a kid I spent the holidays… Wide-eyed with wonder and delight, whilst in a Santa-fueled daze. I’ll never forget the time when… I proclaimed I heard Rudolph’s hoof-steps on the roof. I was quite the comedienne! Now I spend the holidays… Bestowing the same glittering wonder to my sweet little munchkins, making sure they delight in the same Santa fueled daze.
One thing I do every year is… Partake in random acts of anonymous kindness (such as filling a string of parking meters). A ditty I usually do on a whim!
My favorite holiday tradition is… Making a day out of helping my children sort through their toys, loading up our car and taking them down to City of Angels, a Tijuana Orphanage, which is not far from our home.
One thing I’ve learned about gift giving is… Always go big. The phrase quality, not quantity is truly no myth. When it comes to holiday meals… Pull out all the stops, make it an over-the-top, super big deal!

Decorator FOR THE
Erin Gates
Elements of Style, elementsofstyleblog.com Boston-based decorator Gates pens the blog Elements of Style, and she’s got it in spades. As the daughter of an architectural designer, she was raised on a steady diet of period pieces and decorative details, insuring her current love of all things design. The holidays are all about… Finding the perfect gift to show someone you not only care about them but pay attention to the things that they are interested in and care about. I’ll never forget the time when… My parents told us we had gotten a new TV and opened the cabinet only to have the TV playing images of Disney World and told us we were going! I think I had a minor stroke that morning. The best gift I’ve ever given was… A vintage chair I refinished for my mom’s office. It took time and effort, and she loved it! The greatest holiday extravagance is… Wine. Lots and lots of wine. When it comes to holiday meals… I want them to be classic! Don’t mess around with perfection—just give me turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, cookies—no fancy pants stuff.
One good idea for a holiday party is… Have everyone bring their favorite holiday food item from their childhood. Nostalgia at it’s most delicious.
When it’s time to eat, I head straight for the… Dessert table. I have one mighty sweet tooth. My favorite holiday tradition is… Still decorating the tree. We play music and make a fire and have cocktails and every ornament we pull out reminds us of a time and place and we can revisit our memories.

Guys
FOR THE
Karl-Edwin Guerre
Guerreisms, guerreisms.com Street Style Photographer and blogger Guerre has a refined sense of taste that inspires followers across the globe. A paragon of nonchalant elegance, Guerre is as compelling as his well-styled subjects. With just the right amount of attitude and a certain je ne sais quoi, you never know what he’s going to come up with next. Image by Victoria Adamson.
When the holiday season rolls around… I make it a point to reach out to some of those close to me that I may have lost touch with throughout the year. As a kid I spent the holidays… Enjoying naivety. One thing I do every year is… Reflect on the year that just passed. I’m a firm believer that one should take time and look at the past while charting for the future. The greatest holiday indulgence is… Sleeping in late, a luxury I rarely get to indulge in. My favorite holiday tradition is… Creating memories for my children and acquiring an item once a year that can be passed from one generation to the next.
When it comes to holiday meals… I always say quality over quantity. When it’s time to eat, I head for… My one weakness—spicy foods. When hosting overnight guests don’t forget to… Send them off with a great breakfast.
One good idea for a holiday party is… To have a small gift for everyone to remember the evening (like a scented candle). I recently had coasters made for a party and every guest left with theirs.
To avoid getting stressed during the holidays… Look at holidays through the eyes of a child, and there won’t be any room for stress.

Beauty Guru FOR THE
Alessandra Codinha
Into the Gloss, intothegloss.com
Former Eye Reporter for WWD, Codinha was “paid to party,” tracking trends at galas and fetes around New York. Now she works at Into The Gloss, where she shares great beauty products, plus her tips and tricks for getting it right. As Codinha sees it, beauty is not about a perfectly made up face, but rather, about finding the right products to make you feel good. Image by Emily Weiss. When the holiday season rolls around… I start layering (everything, from moisturizers to my socks) and preemptively buying too many presents. The holidays are all about… Spending time with the people you love, sequins, and a great, party-ready red lipstick. As a kid I spent the holidays… Giving people presents too early because I was overly excited about it. Now I spend the holidays… With my family, drinking hot chocolate spiked with peppermint schnapps, and loving up my dogs. The holiday season makes me feel… Pink cheeked, bright-eyed, very happy!
One thing I do every year is… Inevitably going a little overboard in the gift-buying department. My favorite holiday tradition is… Advent calendars, holiday parties, going to church at midnight on Christmas Eve with my family and then driving around to look at the Christmas lights on the houses nearby (or not so nearby—we really love Christmas lights).
The best gift I ever received was… Some pieces of my grandmother’s jewelry, first edition copies of my favorite books (and, when I was 14, James Thurber’s “Carnival”), a jar of Crème de la Mer from my mother’s bathroom—the gift was her not getting annoyed about it.

Gourmand FOR THE
Lianna Tarantin
SousStyle, sousstyle.com Photographer, editor and founding member of SousStyle, Tarantin does it all. When she’s not out shooting the latest story for the site, she’s keeping tabs on the New York restaurant scene and hunting down delicious recipes. One thing I’ve learned about gift giving is… It’s my favorite part and the best feeling. And I have a hard time not forcing gifts on people as soon as they are purchased for them. To avoid getting stressed around the holidays… I have a knack to be a complusive list maker. It works. Sometimes... When hosting overnight guests, don’t forget to… Have fresh towels, clean linens and a fully stocked bar. When I’m going to a holiday party I always bring… Anything with bubbles. Champagne, prosecco, club soda, etc.
When it comes to all holiday meals… All dietary restrictions are out the door. When it’s time to eat, I head straight for… The homemade pies and sweet potato biscuits. I’m a sucker for the sweet, buttery, flaky stuff.
One good idea for a holiday party is… To make a playlist and make it good. This goes for any party... A party that turns into a full on dance party is a success in my book.

Habitually Chic, habituallychic.blogspot.com Interior designer and the blogger behind Habitually Chic, Clawson has the insider scoop on all things du jour. As her first book hits the shelves this month, there’s no one better to give the lowdown on the latest great books.
When the holiday season rolls around… I get excited to decorate especially now that I have room for a big tree. I’ll never forget the time when… I fell asleep on Christmas Eve on the sofa but woke up in my canopy bed with new Holly Hobbie bed linens. I thought Santa had magically transformed my room. The greatest holiday extravagance is… Writing out the addresses on my holiday cards in calligraphy. To avoid getting stressed around the holidays… I try to start writing out my holiday cards right after Thanksgiving. One thing I do every year is… Make pomanders, which are clove studded oranges. The scent always reminds me of the holidays.
The best gift I’ve ever given was… A first edition book. The best gift I’ve ever received was… My dad letting me “borrow” his vintage Breitling watch a few Christmases ago.
I’m always looking forward to… Pumpkin pie.

Collector FOR THE
Jess Graves
The Love List, thelovelist.net
It may be redundant to say that everyone loves Jess Graves’ The Love List, but it’s true. She’s got a great eye for style and a killer sense of humor. Plus, she’s the only writer we know that can get away with saying “treat yoself.” Don’t mind if we do. When the holiday season rolls around… I start making lists. I’ll never forget the time when… I threw a fit because I got a Jewel CD and my sister got the one I wanted: Hanson. I literally cried on Christmas morning! What a brat. MMBop was not worth that hissy! Now I spend the holidays… At the cabin in Blue Ridge with my family, hiking and enjoying the mountains. It’s a pretty picturesque holiday. My favorite holiday tradition is… Watching old home movies. One thing I do every year is… Make my Gram Gram’s pecan pie. It’s a secret family recipe.
When it comes to holiday meals… There had better be pie! The greatest holiday extravagance is… The calories. For a holiday party… Here in the South, there’s one answer: never run out of booze. To avoid getting stressed during the holidays… If anyone has the answer to this one, I want in on the secret. One thing I’ve learned about gift giving is… It’s not about what I enjoy giving, it’s about what the recipient actually wants..
