Order of Service Memorial Talk ………………………………………………………………............................…. Willie Mobley Prayer………………………………………………………………………....................………Tom Woodhams

James (Jimmy) Flood was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on August 21st 1941. Jimmy was one of six children. In 1971 Jimmy met the love of his life Valerie Grier. Jimmy and Valerie got married in 1974 and welcomed their first son James in 1975. Jimmy and his family moved to California in 1975 and welcomed their second son Joseph in 1977. Jimmy loved working in the garden and on his lawn. It was that love of gardening that helped Jimmy to learn the truth. A local brother in Valerie’s congregation, Tom Woodhams, helped Jimmy with his yard by putting in a sprinkler system. When Jimmy asked him how much he owed him, Tom said that there was no charge. Jimmy insisted on needing to pay Tom for his help but Tom simply said that “if Jimmy started studying the Bible, that would be payment enough.” There was another obstacle though. Jimmy had never received any type of formal education and was unable to read. This challenge did not deter him though. With the help of Tom and many of the friends in the congregation, at the age of 65 Jimmy was able to learn how to read.

This newfound reading ability allowed Jimmy to not just read but he was able to study the bible and develop a close personal relationship with Jehovah. Jimmy symbolized his dedication to Jehovah on August 9 2008 by getting baptized. Jimmy loved baseball and was an avid Dodger fan. He really enjoyed teasing his family about their teams, especially when their teams were losing. Usually after their teams lost Jimmy would ask “So how are the Giants doing? How are the Dolphins doing?” Jimmy was known for his smile and laugh. He was always upbeat and greeted everyone with a smile. Jimmy loved spending time with his two grandchildren Joseph Jr. and Kamarah. They were the light of his life and brought him much joy. Jimmy also raised his niece Vivian Wallace as if she was his own child. As he rests in Jehovah’s memory, Valerie his wife of 45 years, his sons James (wife Samantha), Joseph Sr., sisters-in-laws Deborah Bailey (husband James Bailey), Annetta Franklin, and countless other family members and friends will miss him terribly. Thanks to the resurrection hope found in the bible we know that he sleeps only for a little while and that we will see him very soon. We cannot wait to hear the sound of his voice and his laughter once again.

All are welcome to join the family for a meal and warm Christian fellowship at: Michael’s at Shoreline 2960 N Shoreline Blvd Mountain View CA 94043
