TEEN LIBRARY MACHINE OF IMPRINTS SITE: NYPL 9 W 124 STREET, NEW YORK This project is to design a teen library using the New York Public Library Harlem Branch as the site; with the concept of redefining what a teen library is and what it means. This library is designed to be like a machine, which programs are plugged into, including E-books and Audio books. The designs of the new programs are focused on the effect of technology on teenagers and how that build a new and transparent environment for teenagers to feel accepted in the library.

CONCEPT OF ‘IMPRINT’ The concept of using the verb imprint is to represent the phase which teenagers are going through, which is a process of pressing in of new information and new social culture, and it is a process that will leave a change or a mark in their identity and imprint knowledge that they will later bring into the adult society.
MATERIAL USE OF GLASS The design mainly uses glass as the major material. The overall structure is one united system with different functionalities on the different sides, which creates an entire visually connected but at the same time includes programmed independent spaces.

HEALTH CARE OSMOSIS SITE: HEALTH CARE BUILDING, ARIZONA Osmosis is an innovative clinic that utilizes flexible design to incorporate futuristic technology aiding in medical care. This technology is used not only for developing new medicines and treatment but in allowing the opportunity for future advancements focusing on value-based care and the inclusivity of all types of patients. The clinic takes into consideration adaptability, allowing health care providers to monitor and manage the needs of various populations in real-time and grow with the needs of the patient. OSMOSIS: DIGESTIVE HEALTH CLINIC
Within this digestive health clinic, the use of soft lines and curves construct spaces of gathering, creating an opportunity for enlightenment through constructing community. The goal of the clinic is to build open-minded communication both mental and physical support for the patients, especially providing shelter to heal and share in a time of painďźŒfocusing on the patient along with the practitioner’s well-being as the point of convergence. CONCEPT The concept of this project was developed to counter this and encourage people to seek treatment. The concept centers around the idea of osmosis. Osmosis is selected for its importance in acquiring nourishment in the digestive process but also for its other definition, the absorption, and assimilation of knowledge and ideas. The clinic hopes to establish a space where people feel welcome and safe to absorb new ideas through existing barriers, especially against the negative connotations in seeking treatment for digestive health.

USE OF MESH AS BOUNDARIES IN SPACES Mesh as the main material creates a semipermeable barrier that while allowing physical privacy also allows sound and sight to pass-through, maintaining a comfortable distance but at the same time encourages the osmosis of thoughts and ideas to happen within the space. Taking into account the Healthier Hospitals Initiative all the materials used in the space fit HPD and EPD requirements, establishing smarter purchasing through using environmentally friendly products. The clinic not only wishes to guide patients on a path to rehabilitation but emphasizes the importance of building relationships, forming the framework of osmosis through communication that fosters connectivity.

The design of this residential house not only allows the family members to connect through the center music space, it also conveys a sense of deep enjoyment of hobbies: to be surrounded by it and to live in it.

The use of connection between glass and reflective concrete flooring is meant to create a glowing experience of the interior by the effects of reflectivity, so this lake-like floor surface gives the bar interior a clean calmness but at the same time has a flow of light as the time of day changes from the skylight on the roof.

The design concept of In-Wave Bar is inspired by the reflectivity of water. The use of connection between glass and reflective concrete flooring is meant to create a glowing experience of the interior by the effects of reflectivity, so this lake-like floor surface gives the bar interior a clean calmness but at the same time has a flow of light as the time of day changes from the skylight on the roof.
The wave shape lighting structure is a major element of the design concept since the wave shape divides and connects two floor surfaces on the first floor visually and program-wise, which also serves as a soft transition between the two-person seating area and the small group seating area inside. The wave structure has LED linear accent/down-lights embedded inside so it illuminates from inside out.

PRODUCT FAMILY: NIGHT LIGHT RHINO + GRASSHOPPER + 3D PRINT I am interested in creating forms that are composed with cubic geometries, and deform them into more organic shapes like rocks and mountains. By combining the two, I to create forms that have the feeling of futuristic lands, mountains, which cities are built upon in a crowded way. The function of this product family is night-light, which light peaks through the translucent material and also through the holes formed by the deformed shapes, creating diverse but soft lighting effects for the night.

S Y M B I OTI C M UTUALISM - Th es is in pr ogr ess The system of the contemporary society is heavily based on the consummative style of living, especially in highly developed cities like New York. The issue that I want to address through my thesis is how can the urban consumerism that has almost always been a single direction of exploitation to the environment be replaced in the future with a better system of living through accomplishing the opposite; to live and work towards a system of collaboration in symbiosis with nature, adapting a mutualistic relationship between us and the environment.
PROGRAM SYSTEM MODELS NEW PROGRAM: BIO-STAY The program of Bio-stay is a hotel with a system of educational and experiential activities that allows visitors to experience a mutualistic life style that is opposite to the current living style in New York. The experiential hotel is embedded with a living system that mainly connects components of urban farming and microliving within it, where people can experience a self-sustainable and environmental-friendly way of production, and at the same time enjoy their living spaces being sustained by it; so that the space is giving back to the environment while being benefited by the natural elements.
