A TALKING GLASS MEDIA PUBLICATION, IN SUPPORT OF THE CHINO VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT
If you’re a regular reader of our quarterly community publications, you’ve probably already noticed a difference in both the layout and size. You’ll also notice more QR CODES. Why? These helpful little QR CODES are nifty because they allow you to jump to the internet on your phone to get ALL the information you are seeking. These QR CODES also let us pare down the size of our print publications so these community guides remain free to our residents. Also, printed magazines are heavy, making them costly to transport. Eventually, they are tossed away. This seems wasteful.
Join us in saving time, money, and most importantly, our precious resources, like water and fuel.
Scan your QR CODES and jump online with us for the latest events and community developments in Prescott Valley, Prescott and Chino Valley.

Welcome to our Fall 2023 edition of Cougar Country. It seems just yesterday I was standing up on the stage at the Findlay Toyota Center congratulating our 158 graduates. The new school year is now upon us and I get excited when our schools are again filled with our students and staff. Our fall high school sports are kicking off, football, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ cross country, and spirit line. Middle school sports include volleyball and cross county. I look forward to our marching band taking the field as they continue to grow in numbers.
We have some exciting additions to all four schools for this school year. We have added physical education teachers to both Territorial Early Childhood Center and Del Rio School. This will allow kids kindergarten through 5th grade opportunities to experience PE classes prior to middle school. One of our high school teachers transferred to Heritage Middle School and will teach STEM classes. Also, at HMS, our new principal, Mrs. McGill, has a passion for career and technical education (CTE) so you can look forward to some exciting additions in the future. At Chino Valley High School, we are excited to be able to offer a digital animation course to
supplement our already extensive offering of CTE classes. The addition of digital animation will tie in really well with our expanded offerings of art classes.
The fall is my favorite season and part of the reason in addition to the start of school and the weather are the activities that take place. Our FFA Alumni hosted the 73rd Annual Corn Dinner which is one of the key events during Chino Valley’s Territorial Days celebration which takes place Labor Day Weekend. The Corn Dinner is a fundraiser that supports the Chino Valley High School FFA students.
While the Corn Dinner kicks off the fall, our Thanksgiving Feasts are the unofficial end of fall as far as I am concerned. The Thanksgiving Feasts are an opportunity for parents, grandparents, friends, and community members to join the students of Chino Valley Schools for a great Thanksgiving meal at each of the four district schools. The Thanksgiving Feasts take place the week of November 13 – 16. Look on the District website at www.chinovalleyschools.com or the Facebook page @CVSchoolsAZ for more information and a schedule of dates and times.
I want to thank you for taking time out to look through this edition of Cougar Country. Your support is important to insure the success of Chino Valley Schools in educating the children of Chino Valley and Paulden..
Sincerely,
John Scholl, SuperintendentSCAN T O READ MOR
