The CTE programs that are offered on the CVHS campus include agriculture, culinary arts, sports medicine, bioscience, cyber security, graphic design, and welding. MICTED offers programs to our students in automotive technology, engineering and robotics, education, business, and nursing. CTE courses prepare students to be career and college-ready and allow students to explore careers with hands-on learning while providing leadership opportunities.
Welcome to our Winter 2023 edition of Cougar Country. We are already into our second quarter of the school year and it feels like we just started school. November and December are the busiest times of the school year.
There is the transition from the fall sports (football, volleyball, cross country, and spirit line) to the winter sports (basketball, wrestling, and spirit line). Our performing arts classes will be having their winter will performances during this time. Of course, the schools and district when 7 be closed for winter break from December 22 through January is we begin our third quarter on Monday, January 8. The third quarter important as we get ready for our state testing in April. The District has been undergoing some significant construction projects with our some of them continuing throughout the school year. We opened of teacher housing in early October. We completed the construction retain 10 studio units which we hope will help the district recruit and teachers in what has become a tight teacher labor market. The district is also installing new HVAC units in most of our classrooms at all four schools. Until now, most classrooms were cooled n with evaporative coolers which can be ineffective during the monsoo season. This is an 18 – 24 month project which will also include sealing the roofs of the impacted buildings.

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) month. CTE is extremely important to Chino Valley Schools and our partnerships with Mountain Institute Career and Technical Education District (MICTED) and Yavapai College allow Chino Valley High School (CVHS) to offer high-quality educational opportunities in a number of CTE areas.

The Chino Valley High School Marching Band recently traveled to Tucson to perform in the University of Arizona Band Day Competition. This band competition is new to the CVHS Marching Cougars and the students were so excited to play in a college stadium. The Cougars had an amazing performance and they placed 5th out of 8 in their 1A division. They have been working hard since the previous competition and through their perseverance managed to raise their score by 11 points.
