The high school experience is special. It is a time for students to engage in meaningful and innovative learning experiences; to establish bonds with their school, educators, and peers; to participate in extracurricular sports and activities; and to take meaningful risks in their learning that prepare them for their paths beyond high school. It is our commitment to ensure Bradshaw Mountain High School excels in the educational experiences we provide each and every student, each and every day.
In every capacity, we take the educational experience of our students seriously. We strive to create experiences for every student that ultimately leads to doors being opened to their future. We offer 17 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, 18 Dual Enrollment classes through Yavapai College, and 16 Fine and Performing Arts courses. We partner with Mountain Institute CTED to offer 23 Career and Technical Education courses to our students; including CNA, JROTC, and Sports Medicine I&II, of which all 3 are offered right here on our campus. At Bradshaw Mountain High School, we recently articulated our purpose as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) - To ensure a culture where everyone will learn. This means our behaviors and decisions are centered around this purpose.

JohnSincerely,Pothast, Superintendent | Humboldt Unified School District
As we begin the 2022-2023 school year, magic and relationships continue to be twoof the most important words for the work we do in education. Author andentrepreneur, Seth Godin, captured that sentiment when he said that “people do notbuy goods and services. They buy relationships, stories and magic.”
When our doors open every morning, students enter our schools and classrooms andour amazingly talented teachers and staff provide quality instruction for every singlestudent, while also providing a wide variety of courses and activities to meet eachstudent’s needs and interests. But from students’ and parents’ perspective, oftentimes the most important thing is not just what we do in our classrooms everyday, but how schools create and inspire magic and build relationships. How are wegoing to show respect and sensitivity, and develop positive relationships? How arewe going to not just teach, but instead inspire their child to love learning andconfidently shape their own futures?
This happens in part because we have excellent, talented, and dedicated staff whoare undaunted in the face of challenges, and work tirelessly to ensure our students’needs are met every single day. Our work with Personalized Learning focuses onmaking sure we have intentionality in our teaching, as well as developing studentagency and empowering our students, all in our efforts to develop classrooms whereindividual student needs are met every day. This work is compounded by a strong community who support the work donethroughout HUSD; from engaged parents who want the best for their children tolocal community members and businesses, our greater community understands theimportance of these relationships and partnerships. After all, we all have ourstudents’ best interests at heart, and working together to accomplish great things forour students is what the Humboldt Unified School District has always been about. We have confidence in our ability to continue working in partnership to provide thebest learning experiences for each and every one of our students.
I am honored to be the Superintendent of the Humboldt UnifiedSchool District, and I am excited to begin our 2022-2023 schoolyear! I want to welcome our staff, students, and families back foranother great year! Thank you for your ongoing support, and Ilook forward to our continued work together!
