MARCH IS YOUTH ARTS MONTH! Brought to you by: Town of Prescott Valley

Youth Arts Month features a display of art from students ages kindergarten through high school at the Prescott Valley Public Library. Participants of this show are students who are enrolled in an art class from various schools within the town of Prescott Valley. Awards for student artists and prizes for the art instructors to provide supplies for the classroom will be awarded at a public reception held at the beginning of March (date TBD). If you have a young artist who would like to participate in this program for Youth Arts Month, but is not currently enrolled in an art class through a local school, please contact arts&culture@pvaz.net for more information on how you young artist can still participate in this young artist show. MARCH HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS

The World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters are bringing their newly re-imagined Spread Game tour to over 150 cities in 2021 starting on July 21st. The Spread Game Tour is a basketball event like no other. Ankle-breaking moves, jaw-dropping swag, and rim-rattling dunks are only some of the thrill you can expect from this fully modernized show. Part streetball from the players who defined it, part interactive family entertainment, the new tour will show off the best of the Globetrotters in a dazzling exhibition of talent and game. The story covers some history of the crater’s founding and the many people who have been, and presently are, associated with the custody and maintenance of the site, preserving it for future scientific study and generations of visitors. Neal F. Davis is a freelance writer and native of neighboring Winslow, Arizona. Working with the Barringer family, the Bar T Bar Ranch, and the Meteor Crater Enterprises Board of Directors, among numerous others, Davis has assembled a visual story of the people who have shaped and continue to shape the future of the Barringer Meteor Crater. SPECIALTY CLASSES BASIC DOG OBEDIENCE Learn the basics & get your dog trained with certified instructor Jann Watts! This class will be the foundation for a significant relationship between you and your dog. Learn why it is so important “in a dog’s eyes” to be a leader. The instructor will teach all basic commands: heel, sit, stay, down, and come. SHING YI BA GUA Shing Yi is an internal martial art that focuses on the five elements for moving meditation (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water). Each piece represents a particular organ in the body. When done correctly, the practicing of the five elements can refine one’s body and mind. Students will learn the proper movements, alignment and learn to incorporate breathing with exercises. Ba Gau is based on the principles of movement and stillness, opening and closing, expanding and contracting, rising and falling, crossing and turning. Through these slow even movements, students will learn to balance the body and mind. Make friends, explore movement, and develop dance skills with certified dance instructor Hector Rivera! Tap dancing creates a keen sense of rhythm, timing, and musical awareness. Jazz dance introduces a stylistic vocabulary for a fun, funky, and expressive way of dancing: emphasis on rhythm, basic technique, locomotor skills, and coordination. YOUTH BASIC DRAWING

Students will develop skills and different techniques using pencil, pen and charcoal. They will learn important principles about line, shape, value, how light affects objects, plus basic composition and design, which will increase their ability to “see” a subject and create a drawing. ••• There is a mandatory managers meeting for each sport league. A team captain or a representative of the team is required to attend this meeting in order to participate. Alcohol is NOT PERMITTED during any Town of Prescott Valley adult sports league or program.

The Adult Softball League offers a fun and family-oriented recreational environment. Games are played at Mountain Valley Park, are slow pitch and will be governed by USA/ASA rules in league play. Game times are 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm. There is a guarantee of 7 regular season games plus a single elimination tournament for the top 4 teams. Teams must have a minimum of 10 players.

GLASSFORD HILL SUMMIT TRAIL

Trailhead Location: 6000 E Antelope Lane One of our most popular trails! Summit Trail is a 4.5 mile out and back trail with a 944 foot elevation gain used primarily for hiking, walking, and biking. Free parking is available at the trail head. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed.

IRON KING TRAIL Trailhead Location: The end of Santa Fe Loop Road Known for great views of the Prescott Dells, Iron King Trail follows along the -railroad that once connected the neighboring towns. A 4 mile out and back trail, Iron King also connects to the Prescott Peavine trail system. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and biking. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed.

FAIN PARK TRAIL SYSTEM Trailhead Location: 2200 N 5th Street This scenic 100-acre park features a small hiking trail system that ranges from easy to moderate level trails. Popular hiking loop options around the park include the Lynx Creek Loop, which is about 1 mile, and the Cavalry-Canyon Loop, which is approximately 1.6 miles. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed.
