Fashion is an art, style is its purveyor. Imparting the eccentricities of fashion and industry news

Be original.

When it comes down to it, you’re you, and that’s all you’re going to be. Stop trying to be someone else and try to improve yourself.

Being even more honest, there are billions of people on earth, a little over 7 actually who see you as competition. They want to be the best looking, the best dressed, the best milk bottle collector! It doesn’t matter what it is, someone wants to be the best at it. But do you want to know what my mom always told me? Competition brings innovation. If you don’t believe me, look at Adidas and Nike.

The frivolous fashions you scoff at, are the works of art another has cried over. I don’t waste my in-

spiration and energy on pretty pieces of fabric, I

But to be honest, that’s the problem right there: in order to be creative, you must be able to express yourself in your own terms. Imagine a world without creativity… You can’t right? That’s because the world that we live in is full of colors, thoughts, concepts, and so on. If everyone else can do it, so can you.

the human body and creativity. It’s about a love for the human form, a love of beauty and expression. The true fashion eccentric doesn’t look down upon you for not being stylish. They’re confused by you, sometimes even outraged that you don’t see the artistry in clothing, that you don’t see the person behind the clothes.

have second thoughts on what I was wearing throughout the day. I care about what other people think, so much. Whether I copy an outfit off of an icon, or just become inspired, by something I saw, being creative is crucial.

It’s about celebrating design and

fashion are vain and pretentious and all of those involved in the industry have a sense of superiority towards the rest of society because we know what’s in and we’re stylish. Nobody cares or tries to change that because of the idea of naïveté that comes with loving fashion. But fashion isn’t about looking a certain way or trying o be a type of person.

through another person’s art form. To me, that is the most beautiful marriage of expression. That is what art is all about: evoking reactions and emotions. And as artists, to know that your creations are being used to further the human self, it is both beautiful and fulfilling.

Before pointing out how the fashion industry objectifies women, make sure to mention that the auto, beer, movie and music industry do too. Our own government objectifies and discriminates against women in the workplace, yet we’re so afraid of anything new that we’d rather

I use my body as a canvas and exude what I feel through a collage of garments and accessories designed specifically for just that. Clothing is practical, fashion is art. Everything you wear is a statement you are making about self, along with everything you do. Why not make it a work of art?

Blurred lines Creative individuality Creative individuals are more likely to have not only the strengths of their own gender, but those of the other one too. Cognitively our minds are wired to be psychologically androgynous as right minded people in the creative industry. Social normalcies and culture have molded our minds to correspond to gender roles and rules that were created based on what we should be and not who we are. But the time has come for social and cultural reconstruction.

Trend Irony I remember it was free dress day at school and I decided to wear bright red capris paired with a hot pink tank top that read out Limited Too and blue stripped Kswiss.

Whatisisshe, she, color colorblind? blind?“ “What people would say.

I was laughed at, made fun of and looked at weirdly because of how I decided to dress that day. I can also recall moments when we looked at pictures and would laugh at how thick and bushy those eyebrows were. I remember as a kid, driving down Castro and was told to close my eyes because I wasn’t supposed to be exposed to the nudity of human nature. More than 10 years later, all of that weirdness has become a trend and part of our social normality. Color blocking has been a trend for years now. A golden yellow shirt paired with royal blue pants and instantly it becomes this chic trendy ensemble. Those bushy eyebrows have made Cara Delevingne, one of the most known faces of the current fashion industry. We even embrace the beauty of nudity and are beginning to accept the LGBT community. The world of fashion has developed into a unisex sodality. Designers have sent men down womenswear runways and women down menswear shows.

Cool Kids

It is now accepted for men to wear skirts and women to wear suits. We are beginning to encompass the cross gender and welcome the once shocking culture of uniqueness and individualism.

So So what what is is the the new new trend? trend? It’s an expression of who you are, who we are. We have developed into a society that now accepts self presentations; the freedom to wear what you and how you want. The way we dress ourselves is the persona of who we are as a person. It expresses our personality through our style and presentation without speaking. Thirty seconds and we can already portray an image on who that person is.

Quick to judge?

Yes.

But the way we look and present ourselves is our own personal business card.
