Too many people are familiar with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis; however, few think about the difficulties of arranging transportation to get to the treatment center. The Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama and Bill Bradley Services have teamed up to bridge this gap. These celebrated companies have collaborated to create a campaign called Fuel The Fight.

The Cancer Wellness Foundation enjoys a proud history of support from their local community, said Carol Gunter, executive director for the Cancer Wellness Foundation.

“The foundation is supported entirely by gifts from individuals, businesses, fundraising efforts and grants,” Gunter explained.

“We have been looking at ways to increase our awareness in central Alabama, primarily in the river region. So when an opportunity to team up with such a well-known company who has experienced so much loss from cancer, we knew it was a partnership that was perfect for the Cancer Wellness Foundation,” she said.

Bill Bradley Services joined the community legacy and hopes to bring more awareness and help to this growing foundation, said Will Imbusch of Bill Bradley Services.

“Having seen the impact cancer had on my mom and grandfather – it’s an issue that weighs heavily on my heart. We were seeking a cancer organization to partner with where the money being invested was solely put towards the care of the patients. Once we discovered the mission of the Cancer Wellness Foundation, and the passion behind those running it, the choice was easy.”

In a recent press release, the company pledged to donate a portion of every HVAC unit sold through July of 2022 to the Cancer Wellness Foundation’s transportation and gas voucher program.

“Through the Fuel the Fight partnership, Cancer Wellness Foundation will receive funds from Bill Bradley Services with the sale of any heating and air conditioning unit sold during April, May, June and July,” Imbusch explained.

Fuel the Fight looks to help with a need many people may forget to consider. “Providing transportation or gas vouchers to and from chemotherapy and radiation treatments. We partner with over 70 gas stations throughout central Alabama who accept our patient vouchers and bill us for the fuel purchased.
