A virtual teacher at Elmore County School’s Edge program has been arrested and charged with school employee distributing obscene material to a student.

Jackie Sumners isn’t native to Wetumpka but can remember the opening of the Bibb Graves Bridge.

Sumners celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family at the Jeanette Barrett Civic Room.

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin said Emmanuel Andre Wilson II, 32, of Montgomery turned himself into authorities Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson was the head basketball coach at Holtville High School and was placed on administrative leave Jan. 13 according to Elmore County Schools superintendent Richard Dennis.

Wetumpka Mayor Jerry Willis said he was going to hire Sumners to work for the City of Wetumpka. investigation and handed it off to the appropriate authorities. He was also placed on adminis trative leave at that time.”

“I have nothing to do right now,” Sumners responded.

Willis was hoping to get a little more out of the centenarian.

Dennis said school officials follow the same procedure when administrators re report of allegations against school staff and employees.

“This is the star of the show,” Sumners said. “You are going to sing and dance, right?”
