EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE EPIPHANY

Please join us for Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. when the Rev. Lee Lowery will celebrate the Holy Eucharist. We are asking everyone please to wear a mask. The service will be live streamed on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ EpiphanyTallassee/ For more informa- unwelcome characterization, not only of our untamed tongues, but also our selfdeception about how religious we are. (The principle still applies to us if we prefer to speak of ourselves as “spiritual” instead of “religious.” I do not want to fool myself or make a mockery of my religion. But if I repeatedly find myself in trouble because I did not control my tongue, this verse convicts me.

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

“We are OPEN and everyone is WELCOME! Come worship with us in person Sunday mornings at 8:50 a.m. (contemporary) or 11 a.m. (traditional). Sunday School for all ages is offered Sunday mornings at 10 a.m., and a nursery is available for infants. CHILDREN & YOUTH: meet tests. 1) Am I saying these words with the right attitude? 2) Am I saying these words at an appropriate time? 3) Is it a proper place for this conversation? 4) What is my motive for saying these words? If I’m not considering these things, my speech is probably not colored and governed by love.

Getting our tongues under control is a true mark of spiritual growth and progress. James wrote that no one could completely master the tongue. But most of us have considerable room to improve. This is not a complicated doctrinal issue. It is real and relevant today. May we find grace supplied by God to become mature in Christ by controlling our own tongues.

Sunday evenings from 5-6:30 p.m. and Wednesday evenings from 6-7:15 p.m.; supper is included both days! For more information about our church or the programs we offer, visit our website: fumctallassee. com or call us: 334-283-2195. FUMC Tallassee - 1 Jordan Avenue.”
