The Bridge
ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS IN PRAGUE - Studio of Architecture / Emil Přikryl School winter 2013 The bridge based on tensegrity structure.
Tensegrit is a structural principle based on the use of isolated components in compression inside a net of continuous tension, in such a way that the compressed members (struts) do not touch each other and the prestressed tensioned members (usually cables or tendons) delineate the system spatially. Wooden and string model.

Small house in Prague
ACADEMY OF ARTS, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN - Studio of Architecture II Ivan Kroupa, Jana Moravcová - summer 2013 The topic: propose residential building in a gap site in Prague. I chose a gap site in the street Neruda between church Blessed Virgin Mary and the house # 24 so close to the Prague Castle. The program was assigned to apartments for classmates families. The house has entrance through wicket which heads to stairway situated on neighbor’s bearing wall. Your next steps lead to both sides opened corridor from where you can enter into particular apartments. Or you can continue climb stairs and visit terrace and garden behind house. It’s also possible to enter garden using narrow street along church. I made terrace and garden open because there is possibility walk through them directly to Prague castle. That’s shortcut and absolutely new and kind of secret way to castle. Along stairway are situated niches which meaning is hideout for demijohns used for various fruits fermenting. Final product will be homemade spirit. There is a space at ground floor which is public open similar to garden. It should serve as peaceful place, opposite to crowded Nerudova street. New place where people can relax, have a snack, little drink of water and all that for free. Herewith are situated common areas at ground floor. I have thought about table tennis, workshop and bicycle stand. All these things serve residents to protect them from street noise. House is designed as steel concrete structure. Foreside is made from colored concrete to be familiar to other neighborhoods houses. North facade which is situated into the garden is cranked about half a meter inside the house. Roof slope inversely replicates the roofs of the surrounding houses. Gold plated roof makes the house emblem (also located at the entrance to house), so typical for houses in Malá strana.

School of Art in Kuks
TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF LIBEREC, FACULTY OF ART AND ARCHITECUE - Zdenek Franek and Radek Suchanek studio- summer 2012 - BACHELORS WORK
The enter topic is the torso of baroque church complex situated in Kuks, built by duke Sporck. Kuks itself ist mostly known for M. B. Braun baroque sculptures and former spa. Surroundings is famous by its beautiful nature, hitorical and artistic monuments. The art school in Kuks is associated with renewal of the Kuks village itself, which is part of the former Sudetland, where the school is seen as an initiation act of further development. School is situated in former Frantisek Antonin Duke Sporck spa and it is mainly understood as a dialogue with the Hospital area, which is unquestionable dominant. The school is supposed to lead a decent position in this dialogue.

Baroque landscape
TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF LIBEREC, FACULTY OF ART AND ARCHITECUE - Zdenek Franek and Radek Suchanek studio - sumer 2011 Baroque landscape shelter
Going around the stone, stone is large, but you leave. Hole in the stone - you look inside. When you go around the stone, it is large. But do not stop there. I tried to create the space, intimate garden in the woods. Space for thinking. Shelter. Linearity is important. Basic geometrical shape cutting into the natural structure. Blending baroque shapes. Ambit pilgrimage church of John of Nepomuk. Walker goes throuhg the land, through the forest, he will reach linear wooden walls, deer park, barrier, it is not easy to find the entrance to the protected area. The circle will appear later. He must overcome the barrier using a ladder as hunters in the field. Inside is the protected area. Just stone and tree. Cut.
Exhibited in Jaroslav Fragner gallery in Prague (november 2011) and FA VUT gallery in Brno (octobe 2011). nominated for school prize Jeťtěd f Kleci
STONE Solitude. Space for thinking. Way down the dark corridor. Main conic space lit by the hole in the ceiling. Strict geometrical shapes sculpt into organic structure of stone.
WOOD Shelter. Wooden circle. Enclosed. Protection from the surrounding. Place to rest. Place to sleep. Larch wood.
PLACE North of Pilsner. Village Žihle. Yellow touristic trail. Erratic boulder called “Grandpa”
TARGET We can legitimately ask - why not build a chapel where there is faith? Certainly not because of discernment. The only answer I can think of - the chapel itself. As angulated stones that hold the country together. “malé věci v krajině” (poem) Michal Šiška

The Lower VĂtkovice spa
TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF LIBEREC, FACULTY OF ART AND ARCHITECUE - Zdenek Franek and Radek Suchanek studio - winter 2010 proposal revitalization of area The Lower Vitkovice Ostrava This underground spa is designed to support an atmosphere of the Lower area of Vítkovice (Dolní oblast Vítkovice). It continues in absurdity and inability to cathegorize other buildings on this whole industrial area, that are beyond the human´s scale. The spa is formed from a 20 metre deep tube, which is completely situated under the ground. Circular form is likely to be the most structuraly convenient form for digging the pit. Around the entire tube leads a ramp, from which extend single rooms. Most of the rooms are situated just close under the ground,so they are lit from daylight, others are lit artifically. One can walk through the spa untill arriving at the dresing room, then down the ramp untill evantually reaching the hotspot - small pools with alernating hot and cold water. At the end of the room is a bigger pool with a view to the sky. Further down on the ramp is the rest room with a view to the industrial area of Vitkovice. After the fourth curve there is a finnishing sauna and then after a 90 degree angle is another bigger pool. Continuing down the ramp one can still walk deeper and deeper. Further along the journey one has the chance to rest in a niche with a view into the tube. Then the swedish sauna. Tunnels to these two saunas are equipped with cooling showers. And another resting niche. One is eventually reaching the bottom and finally arriving at the circular pool at the bottom of the tube. One can also take an elevator back to the top.
Experience absolute tranquility in the immediate closeness of a busy road?
Can you relax in the place where the workers “sweated blood? Accent strength of industrial - not smooth and comb.

WORKSHOPS
Troja meadow
NTNU Trondheim / VŠUP Praha / TUL Liberec - workshop - spring 2010 One week international workshop with students from Norway, Prague and Liberec under the supervision of architects Sami Rintala, Ivan Kroupa and Radek Suchánek. Martin Gabaš, Tamara Staňková, Kristin Melkind Avset, Eldar Gantz Momentary Lapse of Reason The topic of ‘a magical forest’ brought us to think about fantasy, dreaming and places somewhere between reality and dream world. Through the dreaming and the fantasy we decided to make a bed for us, that is right in between. It provides privacy but is a part of surroundings. It is hidden and at the same time exposed. It is closed, but open as well.
Exhibited in Troja Meadow exhibition (april 2010) and VŠUP Art Semestr (june 2010)
