I envision myself as a versatile artist. My art is a reflection of the standards I set for myself as I never settle for nothing less than my best.
How would I describe my work? I'd describe it as illustrative, colorful and organic - I simply love curvilinear lines. I'm a creative thinker, with an eye for detail and I'm passionate about my work. This portfolio is a reflection of my desire to find a balance between fine arts and graphic design.

A collection of non-commercial branding for companies and events. I did a series of sketches for each project and created all the vector illustrations. Here I focused on combining illustration with photos and typography to build cohesive brands.

Tanabata Fes t i va l
Tanabata is an annual festival held in Japan where people write their wishes on tanzaku (a special type of paper) and hang them on bamboo. The bamboo essentially become wishing trees. It is believed that if you make a wish during tanabata, it will come true.

Lola Dolls branding
This project was based on creating a toy brand that promoted positive body image for young girls. I created everything from the logo to the package design. I used the research results and data from surveys I conducted to create a doll series which I felt was appropriate for girls ages 3-7. I based the dolls on the average body proportions of a four year old with the exception of the head 50

Maui Zen Day Spa is a real company in Hawaii. I re-branded the spa, giving them fresh updated look although I keep the colors from the original logo. I even created special gift and appointment cards.

These pieces focus more on type and design hierarchy. Here, I experimented with combining photographs and illustrations with typography, vertical layouts and different typefaces.

I was "commissioned" by Cleveland Museum of Art to create a series of posters for their gothic architecture exhibition. Each illustration is based on the rose window of a different gothic cathedral.

I designed this magazine for Teance — a company specializing in tea brewing. I redesigned their logo and created a 22 page magazine about the history of tea including the benefits of tea and special tea recipes.
Elle Magazine cover design
Initially this piece started out as just another digital painting. But why stop there? I always wondered what my illustrations would look like on a magazine cover. Once I finished the illustration, I created this mock up cover for Elle magazine.

Here is a collection of some of my personal digital illustrations. Each piece was drawn in illustrator and painted in photoshop. I have selected three illustrations from an ongoing series focused on ideal feminine beauty. This is based on my personal views of what is beautiful and what makes the perfect face and body.

Back to basics — Traditional art is the medium I feel most comfortable with. I put together some works done in traditional media i.e. graphite, watercolor, charcoal and colored pencils.

bolero titl
"Bolero" is a Japanese song by Tohoshinki. I made this video as a teaser for the song's music video. I edited the music video's transitions and added the text in Flash. I also replaced the original audio with an instrumental version of the song. This video is hosted on my blog: mikahaughton.tumblr.com
