Public Health Status

In this section, researchers present an analysis related to the state of public health. Specifically, the researchers focus on mental health status and substance abuse.

The indicators related to mental health status are the depression prevalence rate and frequent mental distress. Drug overdose deaths and alcohol-impaired driving deaths indicators correspond to substance abuse. The data has been downloaded from the countyhealthrankings.org.

Over the years, the depression prevalence rate has risen to an all time high in Tampa Bay Region. Raleigh-Durham has been able to maintain its depression prevalence rate over the last four years. Overall, depression prevalence rate has increased across all MSAs.
