What did your undergraduate journey look like?

I did my first year of college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After my freshman year, I transferred to the University of Texas at Austin. To be honest, my main reason for transferring was because my girlfriend at the time was going to Trinity here in San Antonio, and I got tired of driving back and forth between San Antonio and Lubbock. Moving from Texas Tech, which at the time was still a relatively small university compared to UT Austin, was a major adjustment. UT was huge and I really did feel like just a number as I took classes in auditoriums with hundreds of other students. To be honest, I would have been just fine finishing out my degree at Texas Tech. The upside is I convinced my girlfriend to marry me, and she transferred to UT the following year. That made things a little more bearable. I changed my major a couple of times, from journalism to history and finally to secondary education. I discovered I could take more English and history classes as a secondary education major than I could as a history or English major. I also figured out that with an education degree, I didn't have to take a foreign language, which I thought was real clever at the time. That turned out to be very unclever and something I came to regret. I wasn't a stellar student, but my grades were passable. I also did Army ROTC my last two years at UT, and my grades were good enough to get me an active duty assignment as a tank platoon leader in Germany for three years after I graduated.

What is your title and what courses are you teaching?

I am an assistant clinical professor in the College of Business's Management & Marketing Department. This semester I'm teaching only business law classes, which I very much enjoy.

What do you like to do in your free time? I read a lot. I like to garden. All of our kids live in town, so we spend a lot of time doing family stuff, which is mainly eating food. We like to go on leisurely bike rides. I love music and still spend time listening to albums on my headphones. I'm involved in a lot of different activities at my church. I'm a certified professional guide with the Professional Tour Guide Association of San Antonio. I consider myself an expert on the Beatles.
