Updates from the University & the Office of Family Engagement 

Currently, all classes are fully online until the end of the semester. Professors transitioned their material onto the online portal and classes resumed on March 23. The Ring Ceremony has been canceled and Graduation has been postponed until September 25, 2020. Esperanza Hall remains open and the university staff on campus is limited to essential employees.

Registration for the Summer and Fall semesters is still going to occur. If your student needs to meet with their advisor, the advising office is still doing appointments online and by phone.

IMPORTANT: Effective at 11:59 PM Tuesday, March 24, San Antonio will follow the guidelines under the Shelter in Place order. This means that San Antonio residents should stay home except to make essential trips. Essential trips include going to the grocery store, going to a pharmacy, getting gas, or seeking medical attention. The order is set in place through April 9, unless extended. For more information on what is considered essential, please visit: here For more live updates from the University, click here.

THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES

Academic Services Goes 100% Online. The Center on campus is closed for the semester. For Tutoring: 

Students will still schedule appointments through JagWire to work with a tutor. Instructions for scheduling through JagWire, as well as a full list of courses tutored, are on our website.

At the time of their appointment, students will receive a link via their Jaguar email to join their tutor on

GoBoard. For Supplemental Instruction: 

All Supplemental Instruction sessions are moving to various online platforms (dependent on the SI Leader).

Students in a course with an SI Leader should check their course Blackboard for instructions on how to access sessions and office hours. Please direct students with questions to email us at tutoring@tamusa.edu.

The Testing Center closed March 25 - April 9, 2020 All exams scheduled during this time have been cancelled and students have been notified. They will also receive a full refund within 24 to 48 hours. The plan is to re-open April 10th, but this could change if there are any amendments made to shelter in place order. Students will be unable to schedule exams until the Testing Center reopens. When it reopens, the majority of the available seating will be dedicated to Texas A&M University-San Antonio students for proctored exams and TSI testing. The Testing Center normally sees an increase in TSI testing mid to late April. It is not believed that this closure will have a major impact on Fall 2020 students. Questions and/or concerns can be directed to Julie A Williams, Director of Student Success & Testing (210-784-1359, julie.williams@tamusa.edu).
