Section A: Your views on the sheltered housing services Below is a list of general statements about sheltered housing. We are interested in finding out whether you agree or disagree with the following statements. (Please tick the relevant box) Sheltered housing is still a good service for older people When you get older you would consider moving into a sheltered housing property Sheltered housing is outdated and needs to change to fit the needs of a new generation of older people If yes, please tell us why;

The sheltered schemes should be suitably designed for elderly persons i.e. easily accessible with a wheelchair, layout suitable for the elderly, and facilities for scooters and wheelchairs Sheltered housing services should be personalised to meet each customer’s needs rather than a one service fits all

Sheltered housing tenants should have a choice on how and when they receive a wellbeing daily check from their scheme manager rather than a daily visit to their home i.e. by phone, text, lifeline or simply the resident dropping in to see their scheme manager Sheltered housing services should be tailored to meet tenants’ needs, which means they will be flexible so can easily increase and decrease Where residents do not need support, staff time would be better spent providing enhanced housing support to residents who most need it Sheltered housing tenants who are more independent can opt out of having daily visits and simply contact their scheme manager when they need to There is no need for sheltered housing tenants to have to complete a detailed Support Plan every six months, instead tenants could simply ask for assistance when they need it Sheltered housing could be used for residents other than older people, such as younger disabled people Sheltered tenants should be able to opt out of having a lifeline system in their property Each scheme should have a part-time scheme manager Each scheme should have a full-time scheme manager There is no need to have a scheme manager on site all week. Instead they only need to come to the scheme if a tenant needs to see them Tenants agreed to pay for their own individual support from their scheme manager
