Introduction Bodoni was modern roman style, the letters he cut and the books he printed are more refined and higher quality than work riginating before or during his timelines, it would be difficult to clasify and Bodoni’s efforts as fundamentally new. He was work with John Baskverville that served as his ideal. Few years, the work in his great Parisian Competitor, Francois Didot, influenced him dramatically. Bodoni was always manner, dependent on work of other and bolder contemporaries.
History Bodoni typeface is a Modern or Didone font. Designed by the Italian engraver Giambattista Bodoni in 1798 the font which bears his name drew upon the influences of the older serif Baskerville face to produce a font which was seen as being more pleasing on the eye. Bodoni’s characteristic have contrast between thick and thin strokes to the vertical axis combining with thin hairlines resulted in an atractive, nevertheless it was used prolifically n the publication of Italian books form the 18th Century a language which its design was obviously suited.

Conclusion Bodoni admired the work of John Baskerville and studied in detail , design of French type founder by Pierre Simon Fournier and Firmin Didot. Althrough he inspiration from the work of these designers, all from Didot, Bodoni found his own style for his typeface, which give to worldwide accept among printers. Although Giambattista Bodoni would not probably willing cliam fatherhood to most of the types currently bearing his name, certainly find no fault in still being a household word in the printer’s craft two centuries after began his venture in Parma.
