STUDIO V - [D[e]]Master[code] The studio focused on decoding Louis Kahn and Le Corbusier ideologies and the way they designed. The project was to design a 1250sqm hub for DoCoMoMo International an architectural preserving organisation in Ahmedabad. Explaining the design Starting with the quote. The word “unmeasurable” expresses the kind of experience one feels whereas the word “Measurable” means the dimension with which it has been designed. Louis Kahn does it by taking a square and eventually disproves it with his principles and achieves the unmeasurable. Taking his idea ahead, the design takes Light and Services as the elements of disproving the square and talking of organisation the design consists of five interconnecting squares. The institute prioritizes knowledge the most which happens through dialogue. The designs tries to make learning happen everywhere, In other words the five square are small learning centres are as a whole they become one large power house. This is how the design tries to achieve unmeasurable.

1. Personifying space, an exercise where a student had to imagine a video clip from a movie in a space that defined a particular person. 2. Origami, A time problem for a week where a student had to build an exhibition space or gathering space from a form that came up while exploring paper folds. 3. A group work exercise done to understand Louis Kahn and Le Corbusier buildings with a sense of depth of field. 4. The Final model for the final design exercise, described in the previous page.

STUDIO IV - The Purpose Of Architecture The Studio focused on visualization and reprsentation of a subject and also on what and how a beautiful drawing in made. Exploring different techniques were a very big part of the studio. I have worked with graphite, ink, alcohol markers, photo montage, water colour and software in the process of learning.
The subjects that the studio had as part of the cirriculum where1. The place surrounding us- The neighbourhood, the streets, the life happening around us 2. The place where we learn basically a representation of cept while understanding the spaces created through form and light. 3. To make CEPT in the form of a miniature painting 4. The university area in ahmedabad - A group work exercise done to map and make a 5 by 7 meters large drawing
STUDIO III - Housing as an URBAN INSERT The Studio aim was to design a housing facility for Students and Professionals in Nanavat, the old city of Surat. The design brief had eleven plots at different spots in the area. The main challenge while designing these plots were the area as it was quite dense with narrow roads and it had two to three walls in common with adjacent buildings. The plots are designed in a manner that they start a dialogue with the places around it and blends with the nature, one main feature of the design was light, as plots being narrow and long light was one issue faced by the people living nearby.
STUDIO II - FOUNDATION The Studio offered an opportunity to design as a team of four architects for four brothers living together in a house willing to have their own privacy and also wish to continue the business together in Mithakali, a locality in Ahmedabad.

First Floor Plan
Second Floor Plan
Third Floor Plan
The studio tries to put together a certain amount of clarity and communication between the students in a particular group. Explaining the design, it is designed in a manner that the people living in house come together for the growth of the family through work, the office is in the centre of the design and the living units revolve around it.
FOUNDATION STUDIO - I The Foundation Studio brief of quite basic, to make a student learn about the dimension of human body to space requirement, the idea of void and volume. The site was located in Thol, a bird sanctuary near Mehsana district of Gujarat. the requirements were to design a 1bhk for ourselves. The design focused on capturing the views of the lake and the birds. A complete open north for the views and north light, a sloping roof to tackle the rain and a raised structure on slits to save from the overflowing water of the lake in the rainy season.
BUILDING ELEMENTS The subject focused on the construction details and documentation of different parts of a building. At the end a 2bhk house of 75sq m had to be designed with all the construction details. The model is a Sectional model showing the layers of construction.
B.E
BUILDING ELEMENTS Case study of a house The house is a very old haveli located in the old city of ahmedabad Case study of Staircase A three floor circukar staircase at a commercial building in Paldi, Ahmedabad Case study of Toilet The hostel toilets at IIT Gandhinagar were the last subject of documentation in the course.
CRD CLIMATIC RESPONSIVE DESIGN The subject focused on making the students aware of how much the climatic can a affect a particular building if not designed as per it, and how necessary it is to design a climatic responsive design. The project was to design a cafe which was located in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu. A place where the wind, the sun as well as the rain was extreme in nature. The design focused on sun shading, air ventilation and a system which could make the experience in the building less humid.
RSP Relative Study Program
The program was located in Goa, to document and measure draw the Portuguese style of architecture. This is a temple constructed in the late 1890s, an influence from the Portuguese style of architecture. The drawing are 1. Site Plan 2. Reflected Ceiling Plan 3. Axonometric drawing and details of the joinery 4. Elevations 5.Plan and Sections
HISTORY History has always been an inspiration to the upcoming architecture and so was the subject. The subject covered a variety of styles from gothic to european to hindu architecture till the time of modernism over three semesters. This particular exercise is to study and analysis the hindu temple, to map the movements as an individual passes by the volumes. The temple is Ramachandra Temple at Hampi, and the model represents the negative volume of the temple.
VISUALISATION AND REPRESENTATION Long before plans and sections an idea comes to our mind that is visualisation and later we represent that idea in the form of a sketch or model. The subject curriculum revolves around this idea. The exercise was to take an small object , enlarge it to more than a hundred times and visualise it to be a man made object, and represent it in the form of a model. This is a speces tightner and is visualised as chair swings in an amusement park.
CONSTUCTION The subject was essentially to understand the construction detail of a build form. The site was located in Dhagandhra, a district in Gujarat. In Sanskrit “Dhrang means stone and as the name suggest it is famous for its yellow stones. The Idea was to learn basic elements of construction like the foundation, the stone joinery, the wall and window joinery etc.
B.S.S
BUILDING SYSTEMS AND SERVICES The Services are one of the major elements in a design, the following subject targets on understanding the in and out of it. The exercise was about designing a small residential flat at first with defining all the services like basin and toilets, later on it had to be connected via a set pipelines. It also included the water tanks and filteration operations. A complete understanding of the service block in a building.
GHUGGUKHAM WORKSHOP The workshop was conducted by Comparment S4, the site was a village near Nanital named Ghuggukham. The workshop was about documenting the existing houses in the area and as per the reviews of the residents design and built an extension for the only school in the area. The drawings consists of plans, sections, site plan, family tree, construction details and family interaction with their house.
The final drawings of the design and the process of making it.
