mount mary HOUSE PROJECT: RESDENTIAL LOCATION: BANDRA, MUMBAI. AREA: 12000 SQ.FT DURATION: DECEMBER 2019 The most challenging aspect of this project was the timeline it had to be completed in. The conceptualization, designing & execution was concurrent process while working on this project. Tactful planning, implementation process, management of the team, and prompt co-ordination initiated in smooth execution and timely handover. Located in a hip suburban area of Mumbai, this house was planned and designed on the constraints that the plot presented. One of the limitations was it being in a tight-spaced plot due to two adjacent buildings. That made it even difficult to fit the requirement of the lawn & parking lane. The only solution was to add levels to meet the requirements, planned to serve the function as per the brief & designed the floor in a cascading manner to make the structure look lighter. The two underground levels as parking and recreational space. The ground level served as a formal space for the guest, the first level as a family space & the second & third level as a private space. The conceptualization, design & planning of the interior and architecture were done simultaneously. To optimize the best of both without compromising on the aesthetic value of the structure or interior. The house is designed with a modern contemporary look, with the same concept & theme in common areas, to have a sense of connection when going from one space to another. While the private areas present an individual identity of the occupant of the room, bearing distinctive looks. 7

ALIBAUG HOUSE The house is a quick weekend getaway for one of the esteemed clients based in Mumbai. Set on the plot adjacent to Kihim beach in Alibaug. The house was planned and designed considering the shape of the plot which is narrow and linear. The brief was to have three separate structures, to be planned strategically merging with the contours of the property. Each block had an uninterrupted view of the sea, fading line between the inside and outside. The property includes a large landscaped area with an organically shaped infinity swimming pool. The house consisted of a ramp area that accommodated a staff room, parking space, and security cabins. The house was divided into three blocks, Junior block first, Living Block in the middle, and Senior Block at the end. Each block had two levels, upper and lower level, positioned according to the contours of the property. As the name defined each block had its functions and was designed accordingly. For the look of the house, a monolith concept was developed, which matched with the arid feel of the beach and the plantation around. The materials and finishing selected had a look of rusty, textured & muted colors that gave a raw look. For example, Dholpur stone was used on flooring everywhere to replicate the sand on the beach coming inside the house. An approach of architectural material defining the interior shell of the house was applied. The extra elements were added to the interior with eclectic furniture, accessories, and art that tied all up.

delhi HOUSE 50

LOCATION:DELHI AREA:14,000 SQ.FT DURATION:2019

The project consisted of the expansion and renovation of the existing home to meet the demand of the growing family. It was to be achieved by following the parameters of the existing house and being it a loadbearing structure that limited the possibilities of structural modification. Adhering to the necessary structural norms, we added another level to the structure that met the needs of the family. And simultaneously remodelled the facade of the house to create unison between both interior and exterior of the house. And developed a modern contemporary minimalist concept an inspiration on which the design was developed for the whole space.

CONCEPT

58

AREA:1600 SQ.FT DURATION:2010

Woodside was a 50-year-old family-operated, chai-serving restaurant in a heritage building located in South Mumbai. Later the business was overtaken by the next generation who rebranded it to ‘Woodside Inn’ wishing to relaunch their business with a whole new concept. This project allowed us to work in a heritage structure which also brought structural challenges with it. Once we started stripping down the existing wall covering it exposed the structural elements like beams, arches & old cornices, characteristic that could only be found in a heritage structure. We decided to restore them and design alongside them to compliment them. Through the process of improvisation and implementation as we kept discovering the opportunities that this space provided. We came up with a concept of an old British Pub which seemed apt, considering the history of the structure, its location, and concept for new business. Through these guidelines, we designed and developed the look of an old British pub through materials, color, and detail.

Woodside is another Restro-Bar which was launched under a same brand after a success of Woodside Inn restro-bar in Colaba, Mumbai. To make the connection between the two restaurants, similar materials and palette was used. However with different details as the space was in a new structureand did not have the same elements of a old heritage building like arches, exposed beam and cornices like Woodside Inn which initially defined the look of an old British pub. However, this restaurant had an open space which was treated with an graffiti of a enchanted forest look.
