The Toca Tour is Europe’s premier motorsport series, 2nd only to the Formula One World Championship. Track attendance figures have exceeded 30,000 per circuit and the television viewing figures are often in excess of 1.5 million on the ITV1 coverage alone. Daniel Welch has been racing since he was seven years old. Beginning with Karting at top British Championship level, moving to Formula Vauxhall, Formula Renalt, Clio Cup and Ginetta Supercup; moving to Seat Supercopa. Finally making the step up to british touring cars. The Welch motor racing history has spanned 36 years. Daniel’s father, John Welch retired at the top of his career in European and British rallycross with two British Championships and numerous other titles to his name. John now devotes all of his time to helping Daniel attain his goal of reaching the pinnacle of his career in Motor racing.
Dan’s knowledge of both racecraft and engineering has proved to be a winning formula. His drive and determination in terms of working towards his racing is second to none. Daniel has a rare quality in a driver and is involved in every aspect from Engineering the cars to driving the articulated race transporter in his quest to succeed. With gritty determination and speed in Motor racing Dan has had the opportunity to race at the very highest level at this stage of his career. There are so many possibilities for promoting your brand via partnership with Welch to a varied and attentive market.
Increasing your brand awareness is one of the key elements to what we do. The pits on race day provides a huge opportunity to promote your business to a wide audience.
The demographic at TOCA races is roughly 70% male and 30% female. The average spectator age is 28, with the majority of fans between 18 and 40 in full-time employment and with an average income of £30,000 pa. The crowds of between 20,000 and 30,000 at each event provide a captive audience offering an excellent opportunity to promote your brand. There are 13 rounds in the summer season at nationwide venues, giving us a possible annual reach of nearly 400,000 potential new subscribers.
Other Branding Opportunities - Dan’s crash helmet; what better way to promote your company – Dan will be photographed throughout the weekend and appear in many race publications and social media sites where your company logo will be visible by millions.
Pit Garage Walling provides a fantastic location for branding as a focal point for thousands of fans during the pitlane walkabout session held at every event. Supporters take photos of the car and driver which creates additional advertising opportunity if you have your company brand printed on the car or driver’s race suit. The race transporter that travels thousands of miles all around the country year after year grabs peoples interest straight away. Media Coverage
Use the powerful and exciting image of the branded race car on exhibition stands. Run competitions on the stand enticing customers to leave their business cards allowing your sales department to follow up on the leads with direct mail after the exhibition. The prize could be tickets to a day at TOCA race day.
The media exposure the TOCA package offers would open you up to a whole new audience – Autosport magazine, Motoring News, Local Papers, ITV’s Motorsport UK and live on Motors TV (Sky Channel 413).
Merchandising There’s at least 20 minutes to half an hour between each race with 6-10 races on a usual day. People wander around the pit lanes and the areas behind the pits where shops and stalls sell race merchandise such as t-shirts, hats etc. Merchandise could be designed with your company logo or used for running competitions and demonstrating or selling your company’s product or service which all helps to promote your brand.
BHP film all the TOCA events and TOCA radio station broadcasts at every race venue throughout the day. The racing programme bought by the majority of people at the race has opportunities for features, sponsorship, advertising and so on.

Social Media The Welch Motorsport social media following is active and growing with 82% male twitter followers and 18% female twitter followers. The social media coverage reaches out to a hugely active audience and interaction with BTCC’s social media networks opens up exposure to an even wider target market. BTCC’s social media networks which include dedicated sites on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube boasts a combined following of over 38,000. It is not uncommon to find #BTCC ‘top trending’ on Twitter in the days surrounding a race event or for images and news teasers on its Facebook page to receive thousands of likes, view, shares and to spread virally within hours of being posted.

The BTCC also receives huge exposure across YouTube generally, with clips attracting hundreds of thousands of views. Special previews are distributed to the championship’s partners, teams and their sponsors as well as large media houses to show on-line add to the build-up prior to each race event. The Welch Motorsport YouTube channel itself has around 449 subscribers and over 22,000 views. The series of short documentary episodes follow the team and drivers behind the scenes of the BTCC and the highly active following triggered from the footage provides a key brand promotion opportunity throughout the season.

ITV have broadcast the BTCC since 2002 and continues its increased commitment to covering the championship. Live coverage of the series consists of around seven hours from each event on both its ITV4 and ITV4 HD channels as well as the itv.com website. Furthermore, it provides the BTCC with a TV arrangement that puts even those of highprofile international series that puts even those of high profile international series firmly in the shade. Not even Formula 1 receives as much live coverage in the UK as a BTCC race day.
ITV’s coverage of the championships is a major draw for sponsors. In the past 24 months the network’s commitment has grown in other areas as well – every one of the BTCC’s Saturday afternoon qualifying sessions was shown live on a new dedicated and heavily-publicised itv.com / touring cars webpage that has extended to expert blogs and a comprehensive catalogue of race highlights from the season for the public to watch again.
