THE LION'S DEN

Gravical 2023

Last Thursday saw a group of students take part in Gravical 2023. Gravical is the only professional-level competition that the Tanglin climbing club participate in and the standard is incredibly high.

We had stand-out performances from Jamie (10Cn) who took 11 attempts to top 5 routes finishing 10th and qualifying for the finals. James (9Cn) finishes 12th just outside of qualification, also topping 5 routes but taking 14 attempts. At this level, the margins are so fine and just two mistakes cost James a place in the finals.

Prime Gymnastics Invitational

Our Tanglin Lions competed this past weekend at the Prime Gymnastics Invitational, this is one of the oldest competitions in Singapore. It has a very high standard of gymnastics and is a well-respected competition across Southeast Asia. This year it had clubs competing from over 7 countries such as India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and more including Singapore’s own National Team. This was a fantastic experience and exposure for our gymnasts. Not only did they enjoy the experience they came away with 14 medals across our 13 athletes (boys and girls). Well done, Lions!

UWC East Dragons Swim Meet

The Merlions had 15 swimmers from years 7-13 compete in a Duel Meet against the strong teams from UWC East and Dover. This was a chance for the swimmers to compete together in mixed relays teams and race unfamiliar events in the long course pool. Our Junior and Senior mixed relays placed Top 3 in their respective events.

The Merlions will further practice their craft at the upcoming Gala’s for Seniors on Friday June 9th , in preparation for the Singapore National Swimming Championships coming up in late June.
