Junior FOBISIA

Games

What an incredible week it was at Pattana Sports Resort, Bangkok witnessing our large group of 40 junior students take part in the FOBISIA Games Competing against schools from various parts of Asia, including China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Thailand it really put our students outside their comfort zone and challenged them in a variety of ways.

We competed across four areas including, Athletics, Swimming, Tee Ball and Football. The level of competition was superb and was certainly a step up to what they’re used to here in Singapore. The highlights this year were finishing 2nd place overall in Athletics and finishing the final day as champions in each of the four football divisions - an incredible feat. A full breakdown of the results can be found in the table below.

Finally, thank you to the travelling parents for their support throughout the week.

Singapore National Swimming Championships

The Merlions Swim team had a successful outing at last week's Singapore National Swimming Championships (SNSC), which featured the top open-age swimmers from Singapore and Southeast Asia. This event was the 'last chance' meet to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Out of 29 swimmers, 14 advanced to the evening finals in individual or relay events, with five making the A-Finals. Notably, Nathalie R. (400m Free) and Chloe L. (50m Breast) each placed 3rd in their respective events (excluding foreign visitors)

Cricket: Tanglin Champs CC vs TTS Staff

The TTS staff cricket team accepted the kind invitation from Tanglin Champs CC to play a friendly match on Saturday 15th June Playing at the NUS cricket field both sides persisted, despite very damp conditions, to produce some entertaining cricket.

Bowling first, Martin S and Leo M took two wickets each, whilst in the field Joe 'bucket hands' G held three catches. Tight bowling from Erasmus D helped to restrict Tanglin Champs to 171/8.

In reply, Ben R and Mat S made good contributions, although Mat did snap his bat in half in the process of playing a shot! Despite dogged resistance from James R, the total proved too much in the end and Tanglin Champs were worthy winners by 59 runs.

The match was played in excellent spirit and thanks go to our hosts, including former alumni parents Geoff Forday and Adil Kazi, and to Dave R for arranging the fixture.
