This big, metal plate is called a thali in India and is one of our favourite things to have at Masala Zone Restaurant. It contains one bowl of meat, fish or vegetable curry with 2 different vegetable dishes, a pulse dish, rice, a poppadom and some chutney.

The previous building burnt down in 1834 and the current one was completed by 1870. It was built in the Neo-Gothic style which was fashionable then. One part survived the fire, Westminster Hall, which dates from the 12th Century.

Vantage points (n) places where viewing is clear and free from obstructions. Pulse (n) general word for beans, lentils etc. Poppadom (n) a large Indian crisp eaten as a starter Chutney (n) something to eat with a poppadom made with fruit, vinegar etc. Burn down (v) completely destroy by fire.
