Design Build in

innovative proposition of architecture and s interior design

1920 Offered:

De Stijl style, which was marked by primary colors and pure ideas. The two-story house contains transformable kitchen/dining/living area, studio space and 1st Floor reading room on the bottom. 2nd bedrooms and storage space, only separated by portable Floor partitions.

Facade The Schroder House is the only building that was designed in complete accordance with the De Stijl style. A clear relation between the interior and exterior as well as Rietveld experience with furniture making, is appreciated through placement of fenestrations which strategically frame the few views offered by the area.

Interior Color in the interior is used to define spaces or functions. Black paint, for example, defines boundaries. It is used for the main door and windows’ trims. The interior design is flexible, engaging, and fun. It’s composed of a partition system designed around a central staircase which become a multifunctional area. The no hierarchical arrangement allows the space to become an open space during the day and private bedrooms at night.

The three criteria given by Mrs. Schroder about the rooms for her kids stated that:  bed should be able to fit in two different positions  each room should have access to the water supply and drainage  all should have a door to access the outdoors directly.

Schroder House offered as its time a radical approach to design becoming an icon of Modern Movement. Today the house operates as a Museum. Rietveld proposition of space and color distribution has a big impact in contemporary architecture.

Christian Dior changed the rules of elegance around the world with his debut collection in 1947. Today, this vision continues to be explored in all the extends of the brand; stating from the building faรงades to the products. As a design house, Dior has nailed to extend fashion to the architecture. Built to impress its locations have become landmarks around the world.

The Dior store architecture intertwine with fashion to clearly convey the image of the brand. The store facades composed of large curved movement of white concreate emphasizes the building which becomes a landmark and frames the window displays driving attention into to the interior.

Location: 162 NE 39th St Miami, FL 33137 Architects: BarbaritoBancel Architects Project Year: 2016 Special Prize Interior: Hangzhou Zhoungshuge, China Prize Commercial Architecture: Prix Versailles

Focal Point Reed (2010) defines focal point as a single element that receives the greatest visual emphasis in a room. In this location the impressive two-floors-high screen overtakes the attention of any visitors. The design feature serves multi purposes. The scale draws the visitor’s eyes creating immediate connection between the two floors and serves as a wayfinding tool. Also, it interacts with its surroundings creating a dynamic and colorful environment while interacting with the reflective surfaces in the space.

2nd Floor

Contrast of Texture

In commercial design contrast of texture can be challenging, the design should functions to emphasis the products and create a strong brand image. In this location contrast of texture is the most powerful element to create hierarchy. Using a grey and natural color palette the vertical and horizontal planes are divided. This is noticed at the lounge seating area. The floor is separated by the rough texture of the carpet while each furniture pieces has a unique texture and color hue.

Contrast of Design Features Dior elegance is based on the use of muted palettes and this location is not the exception to the rule. The materials applications divide the space creating hierarchy and identity to each area. In a yet muted palette every space has identity. On the first floor limestone floor pattern and carpet divides the customer’s circulation area from the employees counter areas. Contrast of texture happens at the background wall, a hand finish concrete wall that emphasizes the space allowing colors and products to pop up.

Contrast of Anomaly The contrasting distinct style architecture makes this building a deviation of what is consider to be normal. First Floor

Contrast of Hue and Value The contrast of hue (pure color) is the same throughout the space; greys and naturals colors. However the background screen create contrast of multiples hue that alternate value (lightness or darkness of a color) in the space. The VIP Room, located on the third floor interacts with the outdoors. The designer intention is to create a seamless connection between the terrace and the indoor. The grey hue is eliminated and the natural color palette is used to bring the outside in. The furniture in this area is beige and the vertical surfaces have not texture.

Second Floor

The jewelry room is the only area of the store where light/dark becomes significant noticeable. This room has a high contrast of value, it use to emphasizes the products. Focus light is used over the products while the rest of the are is rather dark. Third Floor/VIP Room First Floor/ Jewelry

M7. Description This assignment Color this is a photoshop rendering . After reviewing the material provided, readings and videos tutorials, students are expected to create photoshop rendered image and create a presentation that applies the concepts of color theory learned from the book and additional materials. OBJECTIVES: ď ą Apply the basic concept learned from the book and precedent analysis ď ą Develop the ability to apply color to a design work ď ą Develop the ability to talk about color in educated way

M.7

The color palette used for the rendering is called ESCAPE which represents an state of solitude and relaxation. The image evokes a state of freedom, relaxation, an isolation time. This color palette based on analogous scheme, which incorporate between three and five adjacent hues maintaining a recognizable relationship (p.120). This scheme is appropriate for spaces where calm, anxiety relieve, and long staying is expected, such as living, conversation, and waiting spaces.

Dominant 1

Secondary

ESCAPE

Dominant 2

Accent 1 Accent 2

60% Dominant = Very Light Tint Greys 30% Secondary = Medium Gray 10% Accent = Tone Red and Tone Purple

This color palette is a combination of analogous and monochromatic schemes. Working with 60-30-10 rule The light grey shades are the dominant, they set the mood in the space and create a relaxing ambient. Grey is perfect to create a clean look and add sophistication to the space without being boring. In the rendering, I used this color on the wall and ceiling. The medium grey is the secondary color, it is a darker shade of grey. A shade color is important in the space because it brings stability and balance. In the rendering I used this color on the floor to create phycological stability The two accent colors are a little difficult to locate in a color wheel, both colors are a tone produced from adding gray. The first one is a light plum and the second is the color puce. In the rendering, I used these colors on the furniture to create emphasis and add variety to the space. The assignment was a good experience. I learned about the rule of 60, 30, 10 in a practical way and the same time I learned how to render in photoshop.
