THE MUSIC EXPERIMENT
PROJECT OBJECTIVE BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER The idea was to get complete strangers to interact with one another in a way that would not seem contrived and thus make the overall experience memorable
After some initial research we decided to focus on music, because everybody listens to and enjoys MUSIC. We understood that the activity would have to be FUN to draw people The activity would have to INVOLVE A GROUP OF PEOPLE to enable any kind of interaction

that brings people together
We brainstormed on the ways in which people interact with music and people’s reactions to music, to give us an idea of how best to use it in our experiment
After brainstorming we found a link between large groups of people having fun over music So we started focusing on bringing people together by involving them in the process of creating music
We needed something that was universally accepted and that did not exclude certain groups of people. What better way of doing that than by using MUSIC and COLOUR
7 BASIC COLOURS + 7 BASIC NOTES Using a combination of these to create music, so the music would have a visual aspect to it

Let each note have a corresponding colour assigned to it and create visual and audio patterns using these
Program a PC with the game we had designed
Program an Arduino Board and attach it to the PC
THE GAME We programmed a game on the PC. The game involved some notes and their corresponding colours being auto generated by the program. The participants would have to play these back
Get 7 switches and solder them to the Arduino Board

DESIGNING THE GAME Have a computer generated sequence. Let there be seven players Each person only memorises the one colour they have been assigned.
HOW THE GAME WORKS 1. The program generates a sequece of notes. 2. There are 7 people and each controls a switch with 1 of the 7 colours 3. As the notes are played out, the colour corresponding to each note appears on the screen 4. People must remember when their colour/ note comes in the sequence and col laborate with one another to play back the sequence exactly as the computer played it out

PROJECT OBJECTIVE The idea was to enhance the movie ticket booking experience for the cinema enthusiast Existing movie booking apps, let people book tickets and give them updates on new movies at most. I decided to create something for the movie buff

APP TO HELP YOU VENT YOUR ANGER
PROJECT OBJECTIVE We wanted to digitise the experience of scribbling on paper when frustrated and so decided to create an app to help people vent their anger
THE SCRIBBLE APP - Aaaaa
LEVEL - GO WILD The app would have 2 levels. Selecting GO WILD will mean that the player has to scribble and cover the screen in the least possible time.
LEVEL - GO WILD Tags appear while the game is going on, signifying the intensity with which the player is scribbling
LEVEL - GO WILD Once you’re done scribbling and covering the screen, depending on how fast you do it the app gives badges. Hulk signifies great intensity and Monk, a calm game
LEVEL - CHALLENGE This round provides shapes that must remain colourless while the player fills up the rest of the screen in the shortest possible time.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE I had to design something to enhance the breakfast experience for people. I decided to focus on creating something for people who like to go out on picnics.

The lids of the containers apart from being air tight, also fit into grooves in the outer body, ensuring that they don’t come tumbling out

STORAGE FURNITURE FOR A PRIMARY SCHOOL
PROJECT OBJECTIVE Design a piece of storage furniture meant for use in a primary school. It had to be functional and playful, making it suitable for use by kids 4-5 years of age
We began by trying to understand how and where we could intervene while keeping in mind all the activities the children took part in everyday.
With inputs from the teachers as well we identified the THEME PLAY AREA, as the space we wanted to work with. This space was used once a week.. We decided to optimise it by retaining the play area and giving it space for storage as well.
The theme play area was a corner that was used by the teachers once a week to stack theme outfits for the kids to choose from.

The retractable stairs to be pushed in by the teacher when the play area is off limits to the kids
The railing ensures the child’s safety while at the top
According to the furniture regulations for Primary schools in the UK, the height of this piece ensures that inspite of the safety rails if a kid should fall he will not sustain any injury
Keeping in mind Safety regulations 1.5m
The shelves are at a comfortable height. The kids can easily access the storage trays as well
