Suggested Teaching Method Many important functions are practiced in this handout. Students can use this lesson to express prohibition, obligation, duty and more.

Students can either work alone, or in pairs/groups. Ask the students to think of as many true examples of policies for their company as possible. If they are having difficulty, give an example of your own (e.g. “I have to wear a tie at work.”)

This sheet should serve as a springboard for discussion on company rules and policies.

Students should write ideas in the circles. Give five or ten minutes for this exercise, and then ask students to compare in small groups.

Finally, elicit answers and write on the board.
