CONCEPT

THE SENSE OF ABSENCE

VOID

Voids does not have weight, but it does have volume.

Conceptually void is defined as “non-existence, nullity”, while spatially it gains a different meaning than its dictionary definitions. Void in space is a place incorporating activity. Therefore, this void created in form based on space indeed creates a place.

Something rigid or solid but a part of it is missing and hence creating a sense like something is missing, so this thing can be related to Mr. Raj Kapoor.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN STUDIO

The studio aimed to transform and reshape the land through the medium of art and abstractions with the understanding of surrounding and context considering the site elements in such a way that it helps in transforming and reshaping the site, the abstractions created a base for the landscape strokes and elements.

SITE LOCATION :

• Site is located on the north western part of nagpur beside futala lake.

• Site area = 2 acres

SITE ANALYSIS :

• Water body acts as a relief when placed amidst an urban area. Futala is one of the two-three such lakes whose lake front is considered as a recreational space in nagpur.

• The site is located on the southern side of the futala lake,on the left side there is a residential block, on the right side the barren land is continued and from the above nagpur-amaravti road passes.

SITE ISSUES :

• It is very poorly maintained.

• Only this pocket is neglected while the other two sides of the lake is used as recreational and commercial space.

• As the character of the lake front is deteriorating so to rejuvenate ambience of the lake front this side of the lake should be developed.

• The concept is providing includes a space where everyone can enjoy , get motivated and at the same time be at peace with themselves .Aim is to create a space in nagpur’s one of the tourist attraction , futala lake where everyone can come and enjoy some time away from thee hustle bustle of the city. The process adopted to come up with the concept was to work with group and come up with abstracts taking reference from a book or any story that describes a space.

DESIGN STRATEGIES :

• To provide a space that has a part elevated, from where we can view the whole park.

• Since the site has gradual slope which leads to the water body, a view point to be provided at the elevated part that is near the entry so that the user can enjoy the view of lake.

• Open exhibit spaces to be provided which will act as artist attraction spot.

ABSTRACTION :

the abstract is inspired from the interpretation of the write up generated by the group members . the abstract has few aspect which reflects about how the space should make you feel like chaos or cold breeze and few tangible aspects which helped to incorporate elements of design which can either be geometric or organic . hence the abstract emerges as an extract of geometric as well as organic shape . this process of abstraction of ones feeling of an imaginary space helped us to give input in the final design proposal.
