LOCATION THE SITE WAS LOCATED ON THE BANKS OF RIVER SABARMATI,SITUATED IN THE CENTER OF AHMEDBAD;A CITY KNOWN FOR ITS ARCHITECTURAL ESSENCE AND VAST HISTORY.THE SITE FORMED THE EPICENTRE FOR MODERN DEVELOPMENT AND ITS HISTORICAL VALUE.THE SITE BASICALLY FORMS THE DIVING LINE BETWEEN THE MODERN AND THE OLD. CONTEXT THE SITE IS A CONTOURED SITE AND HAS A VAST CONTEXTUAL IMPORTANCE AS ON ONE SIDE IT HAS THE OLD FORT WALL WHEREAS ON THE OTHERSIDE A MODERN RIVERFRONT ON THE BANKS OF RIVER SABARMATI.

ABOUT THE SITE IS 75M LONG AND 50M WIDE AND HAS A CONTOURED SLOPE OF 3M FROM THE FORT WALL TO THE FRONT.JUST BEHIND THE FORTWALL LIVES ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD CLASS PEOPLE WHO CAN EASILY ACCESS THE SITE BECAUSE OF THE ARCHED OPENING IN THE FORTWALL.

IDEA BEHIND THE DESIGN THE CENTRAL IDEA BEHIND THE DESIGN WAS TO CREATE A CENTRAL PASSAGE WHICH ACTS AS A COMMON CORRIDOR TO ALL THE SPACES.ALL THE FUNCTIONS ARE SO ARRANGED THAT THEY COME RIGHT INFRONT OF ONE ANOTHER.ALL THE OPEN SPACES ARE ALSO PLACED IN THE SAME WAY. HODKA VILLAGE IS LOCATED IN THE DISTRICT OF KUTCH IN THE STATE OF GUJARAT IN INDIA.IT LIES AT THE DISTANCE OF 63 KM FROM BHUJ THE NAME OF HODKA IS DERIVED FROM THE GUJARATI WORD HODI WHICH MEANS BOAT. SETTLEMENT IS DESIGNED BY GROUP OF CLUSTER WHICH HAVE DIFFERNT DWELLING. EACH CLUSTER WAS DESIGNED ACCORDING TO THE OCCUPATION OF THE RESPECTIVE FAMILY. HODKA VILLAGE IN CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL IS LIKE WOOD , MUD, THATCH , BRICK, ETC. CLIMATE OF HODKA VILLAGE IS HOT AND DRY. THE PEOPLE OF EACH CLUSTERS ARE MARWADA COMMUNITY. BHUNGA IS A MAIN BUILDING TYPOLOGY OF HODKA.BHUNGA IS A CIRCULAR SHAPED DWELLING UNIT MADE UP OF MUD AND COW DUNG WITH A CONICAL ROOF MADE UP OF EITHER THATCH OR MANGLOR TILES.BHUNGAS ARE USED AS A

AHMEDABAD. THE MATERIAL USED IN DESIGNING THIS MODULE IS WOOD.IT WAS SO SELECTED AS THE SWAMINARAYAN TEMPLE WAS BUILT FULLY OUT OF WOOD AND SO THE DESIGN ALSO BLENDS WITH THE CONTEXT. THE HERITAGE CENTER WAS MADE BY REPETATION OF MODULE. FUNCTIONS OF HERITAGE CENTER :EXHIBITION SPACE,RECEPTION AND BOOKSHOP. THE MODULE IS DESIGNED TO EXHIBIT THE HISTORY OF TEMPLE. I WANTED TO DESIGN A SPACE THAT SHOULD BE AS OPEN AS POSSIBLE SO AS TO HAVE VISUALITY ALL AROUND THE PLACE.

THE PROGRAMME WAS TO DESIGN A CAFETERIA BASED ON A DESIGN PRINCIPLE. THE PRINCIPLE I CHOSE WAS RHYTHM. WE HAD TO FIRST DESIGN A SPACE THAT FOLLOWS THE CHARECTRISTICS OF THAT PARTICULAR PRINCIPLE AND THEN WE HAD GIVE VARIOUS FUNCTION TO THE DESIGN. FUNCTIONS:KITCHEN,RECEPTION,SITTING AREA AND TOILET. THE BASIC IDEA WAS TO GIVE FUNCTION ACCORDING TO THE SHAPE AND THE SPACE REQUIRED AND TO MAKE AS FEW ALTERATIONS AS POSSIBLE. I WANTED TO DESIGN A SPACE WHERE PEOPLE COULD JUST WALK IN WITH NO PRESSURE AND CAN ENJOY THEIR TIME. THE SHAPE OF THE CAFETERIA COMES FROM THE FEW MODIFICATION OF THE PLAN CONCEPTUAL MODELS. B’

AS A PART OF HERITAGE ORGANIZATION , DOCUMENTATION OF SOME HERITAGE HOUSES ARE DONE AS A PART OF RSP WORK. Ÿ HERITAGE HOUSES ARE MOSTLY FAMOUS FOR THEIR INTRICATE WOODEN CARVING,ATTRACTIVE FACADE OF THE WHOLE HOUSE FROM ALL THE FOUR SIDES. Ÿ THE PEOPLE LIVING IN THE POL HOUSES LIVE A VERY SIMPLE LIFE STYLE.THEY CELEBRATE EACH AND EVERY FESTIVAL TOGETHER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.THE LADIES OF THE HOUSES COME AND SIT ON THE OTLA FOR GOSSIPS AFTER COMPLETING THEIR HOUSEHOLD WORKS. Ÿ MANY HOUSES ARE MORE THA N 100 YEARS OLD.THEY ARE SO OLD THAT THEY NEED RENOVATION AFTER SOME YEARS BECAUSE THE MATERIAL USED IN CONSTRUCTION ARE WOOD AND STONE.

PAPER BOARD. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE TO USE PAPERTUBE WAS NOT ONLY DUE TO ITS INHERENT RECYCLABILITY CHARACTERISTICS, BUT ALSO DUE TO ITS AFFORDABILITY. Ÿ TO DESIGN AND EXECUTE A TEMPORARY SELF EXHIBITING STRUCTURE FOR CONDUCTING EXHIBITIONS AND JURIES IN COURTYARD AND PASSAGE IN OUR COLLEGE.AS WELL TO IMPROVE THE EXPERIENCE OF MOVING AROUND THE PASSAGE AND COURTYARD.
