About Class of Their Own Class Of Their Own provide an exciting range of play opportunities in a secure environment for 4 – 11 year olds.

Class Of Their Own is based in Hove and is run by sisters Sam Thomson and Tanya Petherick. Sam, an experienced primary school teacher, set up Class Of Their Own in 2001 and was joined by Tanya in 2006.

Play, Create, Do...every child has the choice!

Our high quality, child centred, affordable out-of-school play opportunities are designed to appeal to all children. We cater for each child’s individual needs to ensure they are happy and have fun in a safe environment….whether your child is creative, sporty, social or playful, we have something to suit everyone! Each themed day zooms by and your child will come home happy and tired with tales of fun activities, exciting adventures and new found friends.

Activities

Children are presented with a wide range of play activities EVERY day including:

Group Games Creative arts and craft activities Indoor Games and Toys Outdoor Fun and Games

Sport Cooking Quiet Areas And much, much more!

Our different daily theme means children can attend as many or as few sessions as they like.

This summer’s exciting weekly themes...

Who are the team? Our enthusiastic team work on a ratio of 1 adult to 8 children. The team are handpicked for their committed, professional and fun attitude. Each member of the team is fully trained and they are provided with lots of ideas and materials to keep each day fresh and exciting. All team members undergo a DBS check (formerly CRB).

Healthy Eating

Our clubs are healthy eating clubs and we provide a healthy snack in the morning and afternoon breaks. Note, all our clubs are nut and sesame free.

Ofsted

All our clubs are registered with Ofsted. Six of our clubs are graded as ‘outstanding’ and all others are ‘good’. If you are eligible for Working Tax Credit you will need our Ofsted registration number which will be printed on your invoice. Class of Their Own

Fun for All Ages!

Class Of Their Own clubs are designed to appeal to children of all ages.

Most of our activities are adaptable so they suit children of all ages, however, some of been specifically designed so that they are more age appropriate and appeal to older or younger children.

OwnZone

OwnZone is our initiative designed especially for children aged 8+. OwnZone activities take place for at least an hour a day. The range of challenging and inspiring activities give older children dedicated time and attention to learn new skills, gain independence and develop their individuality.

Keyworkers & Child’s First Day

E N O Z n Ow

For some, the first day can be a daunting experience for children and/or their parents whilst other children come to the club without a backwards glance at their parents! All children visiting for the first time, regardless of their age, will have a dedicated playworker allocated to them. They will show your child around, make sure they get introduced to staff and children and pair them up with a similar aged buddy. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (entering or leaving Reception Year) will be allocated a key worker each day of the holiday. The keyworker will be responsible for a small group of children and will take personal responsibility for your child’s welfare ensuring they feel safe and secure and that their individual needs are met.

What do I need to bring?

Children need to bring a packed lunch (with an ice block) a drink for lunch and a hat if it is hot. We provide factor 50 hypo-allergenic sun cream. If you would prefer to bring your own suncream, please bring it in a clearly labelled bottle. We recommend that children leave their best clothes at home as they may get dirty. All our clubs are nut and sesame seed free. Please do not send nut or sesame products (including nut-based cereal bars, peanut butter, satay sauce and houmous) with your child’s lunch.

What parents say about us... “Love what you do and have every confidence in the team at the office and our club. You enable working parents to focus on work knowing our children are well cared for and safe and that is what every working parent needs.”

Class of Their Own

“Absolutely love Class Of Their Own and can’t think of anything I’d change. Thank you!” “A great service – well organised and well run. We are very lucky to have Class Of Their Own in Brighton and Hove” Linkline House 65 Church Road Hove BN3 2BD

Summer Holiday 2016 - Locations All our locations are hand-picked for their location and facilities. All of our clubs are used by children from around the local area, not just children who go to the school where the club is taking place. All clubs except Connaught are suitable for children aged 4-11 (including children starting in Reception in September 2016). Connaught is Infant only. Choose the best location for your child...

Downs Junior School - Rugby Road, Brighton, BN1 6ED

(please note our entrance is in Grantham Road) Downs Junior is one of our most popular holiday clubs. It takes place in the modern school canteen which provides lots of space for indoor play. We also have use of two playgrounds. The club does reach capacity and you are encouraged to book early.

Connaught Road - Connaught Road, Hove BN3 3WB

We are opening the Holiday Club at Connaught instead of School Road this summer as School Road is closed due to building works. This club will be Infants only and is particularly well suited to the younger children. The club will be held in the small hall with access onto the playground and snug area. The maximum number for this club is 34, so we advise booking early.

Ideal for Infants

.

Hidden Gem

Peter Gladwin - Drove Road, Portslade, BN41 2PA This club is hidden away but is so worth the journey. The club is based in the school hall with access to a separate area for juniors. The outside space is fantastic with a large playing field and a separate hard court area for ball games. Parking is available for drop off/collection.

Holland Road - Holland Road, Hove BN3 1JF

Due to major building works at Brunswick School we are moving the Brunswick Clubs to Holland Road School. The usual team from Brunswick will be working at Holland Road to ensure consistency. The Club will be open for Infants and Juniors and we will be providing activities for all of the children. The club will be run from the very large hall and we also have use of the playground and grassed (astro turf) area. Â Â Even though it will be a large club it has a very calm feel.

Brunswick Team are here!

Sompting - White Styles Road, Sompting, Lancing, BN15 0BU The club at Sompting is a small friendly club open to all primary aged children. The club is run from the hall and community room and has access to a large playground and fantastic field. This is the perfect club for children who thrive in a smaller group environment.

Fifteen Years of Providing Exciting Play Opportunities for Children! As Class Of Their Own celebrates it’-s 15th birthday, it feels like a good time to reflect on our journey. Like many of life’s great ideas, the concept of setting up a holiday club came to Sam as she was lying on a beach in India! As a primary school teacher she realised that the bit of the job she loved was supporting children’s development through play. She persuaded a teacher friend to help out, and signed up 4 children for the first ever Class Their Own holiday club. As Class Of Their Own grew Sam was joined in the company by her eldest sister Tanya. Sam’s teaching background was complemented by Tanya’s business and marketing expertise enabling the company to develop into the business it is today. It has been an exciting fifteen years; lots has changed, but…our aim for children to have fun in their free time – make friends, learn new skills and play supported by a fun and creative team has been the same since day one! Today we are based in 15 local schools, over 3500 children regularly use our service, we have an office team of 12 and over 170 people working in our clubs. We have a company vision which is to be outstanding to all. We are delighted that Ofsted agrees and has graded 6 of our clubs as outstanding (and the rest as good) which we believe is unparalleled in the sector. When we consider our growth and success, one thing stands out as helping us to get to where we are today – the passion and commitment of our whole team. We focus on employing the best playworkers and invest in company-wide training and career development with one aim – to continue making our clubs exciting and great places for children to attend! We work with so many local children, families and schools, when looking for a way to engage with the local community a bit more, we realised that the opportunity to sponsor Brighton and Hove’s Children’s Parade was an opportunity not to be missed. It is such a fantastic community event and complements what we do in the clubs – through taking part in the parade children make friends, learn new skills and have fun and experience being part of something amazing – definitely a day to remember! 'The Brighton and Hove Children's Parade is a free event that could not happen without generous, enthusiastic and creative supporters like Class of their Own who are also a great local business!' Andrew Comben CEO Brighton Dome and Festival Thank you for being part of our journey.
