TAOSHOBUDDHA The word Taoshobuddha comes from three words, ‘tao,’ ‘sho,’ and ‘Buddha’. The word Tao was coined by the Chinese master, Lau Tzu. It means “that” which is and cannot be put into words. It is unknown and unknowable. It can only be experienced and not expressed in words. Its magnanimity cannot be condensed into finiteness. The word Sho implies, that which is vast like the sky and deep like an ocean and carries within its womb a treasure. asure. It also means one on whom the existence showers its blessings. And lastly the word Buddha implies the Enlightened One; one who has arrived home. Thus, Taoshobuddha implies one who is existential, on whom the existence showers its blessings and one who has arrived home. The Enlightened One.

HEMANT MOGHE Hemant Moghe, a former University lecturer in Statistics, Mumbai, India considers him a common man, yet very fortunate to have an association with illumined beings whose blessings have been the beacon light through his life. After Post-Graduation he began self studies of philosophy. Revisited the study of Sanskrit for the grasp of philosophy! It is the works of the illumined ones that attracted him the most. Inner pursuit drew closer ultimately to Sant Dnyaneshwar. Therein he discovered the essence of Love, Peace, Joy and beauty and Harmony. This he shares through his life, living and works. hirpaQ Now the second part ‘Path’. This is written in Marathi or Devnagri script as paQ.

This implies remembrance, contemplation, and meditation as three stages. Patha, reading over and over means you will need to go over this scripture savoring in unhurriedly – reading and re-reading. Who knows how many times, but knowingly or unknowingly, you will have to repeat it in your different moods, in different states of mind. Sometimes, when the sun is on the horizon, or when night covers everything under its darkness, when the mind is cheerful, or sometimes when the mind is sad. You will have to enter this scripture in different moments in different conditions. Only then by and by will its facets become apparent to you. And yet it will remain inexhaustible.

T

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt his modern era is full of mere enjoyment popularly known as materialism. Most of the people living on mother earth are in misery despite the abundance of food and materials of entertainment. This is nothing but the tragedy of this age. We have seen that though The Creator of universe is The Absolute, is super intelligence and extremely kind. To establish order and righteousness in the world and to repair from harmful destructions, from time to time he sends master minds in form of Saints to our mother earth. As per demand of time He created Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and guided the people who had lost their path. Haripath is the best creation of Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. This consists of simple but sweet twenty Seven verses. He insisted common man to follow path of devotion i.e., Bhakti Marg and suggested a very simple practice to recite God Name. Sufi master, “Tashobuddha” has done wonderful work to translate Haripath into English and written the most meaningful discourse on it. This is a joint mission by Sufi master, “Taoshobuddha” and Hemant Moghe who worked together to bring about this work. We know that Sufi tradition believes in monism and advocates devotees to sing and sing which is just similar to chanting god’s name with love i.e. Naam Sankirtan.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt We have the great pleasure to forward this book for Global Circulation.

It will be most appropriate to take a few glimpses or do a brief overview of this work. In Sanskrit it is known as RasGrahan which means to drink sweet honey of poetry. The beauty of Haripath and greatness of Dnyaneshwar Maharaj is in his simplicity. Without giving difficult aspect of philosophy he simply says, “Spend moment in remembering Him and chant HIS name, “Hari Mukhe Mhana’. “Taoshobuddha start his commentary in so simple way, Chant God! Seek God ever! Each moment chant the name! This is the way to inward journey! Seek within therefore this enchanting ‘Melody of Path’ to Divinity! Really speaking this is enough. No further explanation is required. A wise man will follow, The Master immediately. But wise men are rare. Therefore additional explanation has become necessary. Many scholars of different religion have misconception that Hinduism is based on duality or have faith in many deities. Dnyaneshwar emphatically affirms that,

In this process of evolution “Gurukripa”, grace of the Master is essential.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt “Taoshobuddha” express extremely important thought regarding “Guru the master, Who is a master? And how to find a master?

First let me rephrase the question. Never ask who is a master? Ask instead what is a master? And how is a master? From language point this seems absurd. But this is how the question should be asked. Never ask who is a master? Because master is not a person! YES, Master is not a person. Master is a State of Awareness. Expression of Bliss, and Harmony! Then how can you ask who is a master. Sufis say master is Roohani Meraj – inner state of emptiness – or awareness. For this you have to ask what a master is. One must read this very carefully and contemplate over it. The whole explanation about this is very pregnant. “Taoshobuddha” further rightly expresses the spirit of Dnyaneshwar and his verses, These Abhangas are not any definition or description. It is like the one who has tasted the sweet fruit. What will he do? He will enjoy. He will go on narrating to others. He may start singing the glory. You will try to correlate your

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt experiences with those who have experienced themselves. It is like you want to enter the temple. Yet still you have not yet entered the temple. This is an effort to bring the taste of being in the temple to those who have not yet been to the temple. For such people there can be no definition. Definition can only happen between those who know. Therefore this explanation! As per Dnyaneshwar Naamsmaran or chanting name of the God is direct way of sublimation of oneself to the higher plane of consciousness. “Taoshobuddha” declares without any hesitation that, HariPath is the essence of Naamasmaran. Following Naamasmaran one reaches the same abode as that of the Path of Yoga takes you to. HARI PATH is the ADVAIT – SADHANA. Let me explain something of Narad and his Bhakti Sutras. ----Please, read this part with more attention. Regarding company of saint, Taoshobuddha says, Why the company of the auspicious is sought? In the company of saints – the auspicious Mind is inclined to tread the path to God realization. Let the tongue engage in the chanting God’s name as well And with mind full of feelings for Shiva, the Lord Who is ever meditative in his Self? And indeed loves to hear the Divine name.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt As per Dnyandev Chanting God name is very easy yet rare is a person who know the secret of chanting. Taoshobuddha catches correct thread and says, Though chanting thy Name is such an easy thing, Rare are the one indeed who chants the Name with his mind and intellect ever fixed in it.

You use a ladder to reach the top or a vehicle to reach the temple. Then holding on to the ladder or the the vehicle will keep you deprived of something more valuable.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Most important notes added by Taoshibuddha on this verse - you must read in details Taoshobuddha continues his own reflection AaGae AaGae HUmta jaTaa hE vh mh;r ioram , pIDe pIDe nKzpa kae cUmta jaTaa h<U& m<E.

That which is goes on moving like the intoxicated one! And behind him I continue following his foot steps!! Dhikr or chanting cleans the heart or qulb. Constant chanting strengthens the inner being of the aspirants. Just as breathing is to the body! Meditation is to the soul! Constant chanting or dhikr is the breathing of the qulb or heart. Together these constitute the SUFI TRINITY. Together these bring annihilation of ego to merge with God. See Dnyandev exactly tells the same thing - Just by chanting God Name, tongue or in subtle sense mind becomes pure. That which is goes on moving like the intoxicated one! Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Name of the God is all-pervasive. Taoshobuddha sounds irrelevant in his critic on above verse --- NO -- HE IS NOT ---- The mind of Taoshobuddha has become so large that he has gone beyond cast, creed and religion. This is the effect of God name. He spontaneously says-----Haripath is such a mile stone that you stumble upon one day traversing along life’s roads. Now that you have stumbled upon it chant it repeatedly until you reach the core of your being. And also its echo begins to linger in your being. ------ So is Buddha! So is Jesus! So is Krishna! So is Mohammed! So is Kabir! So is Mira! But now we have to melt all such fragrances into one – cosmic or universal fragrance. THIS IS THE “VISHWATMAK BHAVA” IMPLIED BY DNYANDEV. THIS IS FEELING OF THE BROTHR-HOOD. nam svR magaR vir:Q tewe k:q n lgit

Taoshobuddha explains “Seven Body” principal in such simple ways and concludes ---Remembrance of Lord requires not painful efforts. Dnyandev says, ‘Life without ‘Name’ is futile so I move forward on the path of ‘Name’ to Lord’. ramk&:{aI inTy qahae )aefI

We must read between the lines that Dnyandev says, God is The Mother of all creation. So we must cry at top of our voice to attract attention of THE MOTHER. THE MOTHER WILL NURSE YOU WITH HER BLISSFUL MILK.

We realize that work done by Taoshobuddha is marvelous. Our Marathi Saint says

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt

bahut saukRtaica jaaoDI mhNaUna ivazzila AavaDI Taoshobuddha must have done good work during his last so many births, the result of which is this explanatory notes and discourse on Haripath. Lord is already showering grace on him as a torrential rain or like a shower with a hose pipe. Let us also enjoy that holy shower by standing near to him and going through this holy critic on Haripath. To add to this is the mystical voice of Taoshobuddha and the audio that compliments each meditation.

To Sum up Shree Dnyandev and his Vedantic approach trough Haripath ---Why a Human being (Individual small I) should seek god? “hirvaINa mana vyaqa- jaaya, only human has got most developed mind. He can think and choose. In animal kingdom there is no choice. Dnyandev specifically points out a mind without God is useless. The point is when He has given us such a super instrument and we utilize it only for eating and mating for which animal level mind is good enough. So if we do not use our best tool i.e. mind to seek and understand God then the given instrument is not been properly used.

Vishwatmkata – the Universal feeling We must understand that ‘vishwatmak or universal feeling does not mean to say like, “We all Indian”, or “We All Christians” or “we all Muslims” etc. Even it not like saying “we all human beings”. There is no scope for any classification. Veda and Upanishad declare in roaring voice that, One and Same Principal has en-shrouded complete universe. This Principle is omni-present – present everywhere and all pervasive – occupying every thing. Rather in real sense only HE does exist and whatever is seen is an illusion like mirage in desert.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt

PREFACE It seems both the streams of Taoshobuddha, and Hemant Moghe have merged in the invisible undercurrent of Dnyandev to create this offering to an enchanted heart. And in the process of creating this confluence many other tributaries have flowed in…

t is indeed a matter of joy for us to overflow the sutras of Bhakti as chanted by Sant Dnyaneshwar. And it is an even greater blessing when you are chosen for this work. The events one after the other and the sequence in which these happened reveal this. Neither I nor Hemant had any idea of this work or what will be its final form. Haripath always vibrates something within. And this is the reason that even after 734 years of the birth of Dnyandev these Abhangas continue to linger in the minds and beings of NOT ONLY Maharashtrians instead any aspirant beyond religion; and time and space. This is my certitude, and I speak on my own authority that these Abhangas shall remain the beacon light or the pole star guiding the aspirants along the path that leads to inward journey. The word Hari refers to that which is – form or formless. And Patha - reading over and over means you will need to go over this scripture savoring in unhurriedly – reading and re - reading. Who knows how many times, but

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt knowingly or unknowingly, you will have to repeat it in your different moods, in different states of mind. Sometimes, when the sun is on the horizon, or when night covers everything under its darkness, when the mind is cheerful, or sometimes when the mind is sad. You will have to enter this scripture in different moments in different conditions, only then by and by will its facets become apparent to you. You will enter a new domain of your being. And yet it will remain inexhaustible. No scripture can ever be used up. The more it will appear you have found what you were looking for, the more you will realize there is much more left undiscovered. The more you dive deep into it, the more it grows deeper. No reader can ever exhaust a scripture. Patha, means reading over and over again – many times. People in the West fail to understand this. It is beyond them to figure out why people have been reading the Gita for thousands of years. They wonder, ‘the same man reads the same Gita every morning – has he gone crazy or something?’ They have no idea that the whole technique of patha, reading and re – reading is to let the scripture penetrate the heart. It has more to do with enjoying the taste of it rather than understanding it. Taoshobuddha had just finished a 267 – page work on ‘Maraqba – I – Rumi’ by the end of August 2009. This I decided to finish before beginning the tour of North America in September 2009. This work contains meditations around the compositions of Jalaluddin Rumi.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt It is no coincidence that just after this work I was to start ‘Gita Dhyan Sadhana’ – meditations around the sutras of Bhagwad Gita. Enough work has happened around Sufi Path and not much work was done along the Bhakti. It was during my North American tour of September 2009 one day Hemant Moghe sent me his English translation of ‘Haripath of Sant Dnyaneshwar’ and asked me to go through this. Amidst the hectic tour of talks, meditation sessions etc as Taoshobuddha was going through the sutras he got the affinity – a remembrance. Something vibrated deep within and immediately he rearranged the translation and spoke to Hemant of the plan to create this work. This work therefore is spontaneous outpouring of The Secrets of Bhakti and the continuation of my earlier work ‘The Secrets of Bhakti’ – Talks on the Bhakti Sutras of Narad. The entire plan and strategy was made while Taoshobuddha was on his North American spiritual tour of Boston, Hollywood Florida and New York. Once your heart is aglow with Bhakti it is ever ready to overflow beyond time and space. There are many similarities between Rumi and Sant Dnyaneshwar. Both belong to the realm of Bhakti. Jalaluddin Rumi was born in 1207 in Balkh. Sant Dnyaneshwar was born in western India in 1275. Both are the masters in their own right. Both have tremendous capabilities to transform. Sant Dnyaneshwar a thirteenth century Sant from the banks of river Godavari in the south western state of Maharashtra, India is unique in many ways. It is difficult to

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt explain who exactly Dnyaneshwar is. He had so many talents in him, that it is not easy to explain his total contribution to the Indian culture in a single sentence. Indeed Dnyaneshwar is a poet, an intellectual, a spiritual master, a master of yoga and an Enlightened One. In the subsequent pages as we move further with the biographical sketch of Dnyaneshwar you will be able to see the many facets of his being even more explicitly. Each composition is musically composed poetic expression of inner oneness and bliss. These are known as Abhangas. These are soaked in the essence of Dnyaneshwar. This is the reason that these Abhangas form the part of every Maharashtrian home and all those who seek oneness. Dnyaneshwar through these Abhangas has brought the spirit or duality of Shaivite and Vaishnavite as oneness through Vitthal or Panduranga where the Shaivite and Vaishnavite merge into one another. Such is the spirit or the essence of Dnyaneshwar. Through these meditations the effort is made to maintain this spirit and take the aspirant from the physical level of ritual singing to inner state of meditativeness when you are connected to the energy field of Dnyaneshwar. When it was decided to create such meditations around each Abhanga, a certain format was decided upon so the work happens at the physical, mental, intellectual and the spiritual plane. For this it was imperative to classify these Abhangas into these categories.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt However, when the process began, it was felt that there is no such need. Each Abhanga works at all three planes simultaneously. Only thing that, it requires, is the awareness on the part of the aspirant. Once, there is awareness one is easily connected to the saint and his energy field. In the absence a bridge is to be created. This bridge will connect the two shore where you stand and the other shore where Dnyaneshwar dwells. Without this bridge one cannot reach to the inner core of his being on his own. There are certain rare possibilities when one can reach on once own. Based on these we cannot make generalizations. Therefore our effort through these compositions is to create many bridges so that you can reach the essence of Dnyaneshwar and thus connect to your being. The moment this happens your process of transformation begins. Our effort through this work of guided meditations is to let each Abhanga become a bridge over the vast ocean of life that lies ahead of you and you are connected to your being. With this we take you through these guided meditations. Shad Darshana: (Sanskrit) ‘Six views or insights; six philosophies.’ Indian philosophical thought is expressed through six classical philosophical systems: 1. Nyaya, 2. Vaisheshika, 3. Nirishwar Sankhya, 4. Seshawar Sankhya or Patanjal Yoga, 5. Purva Mimamsa and 6. Uttar Mimansa or Vedanta.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt

Each was tersely formulated in sutra form by its ‘founder,’ and elaborated in extensive commentaries by other writers. These are understood as varied attempts at describing Truth and the path to it. Elements of each form part of the Hindu fabric today. 1. Nyaya: ‘System, rule; logic.’ A system of logical realism, founded by Gautama, known for of logic and epistemology and concerned with the means of acquiring right knowledge. Its tools of enquiry and rules for argumentation were adopted by all schools of Hinduism. 2. Vaisheshika: ‘Distinctionism.’ From ‘vishesha,’ differences. Philosophy founded by Kanada teaching that liberation is to be attained through understanding the nature of existence, which is classified in six basic realities (Padarthas): Dravya , Guna, Karma , Samaanya, Vishesha, Samavaaya. Nyaya and Vaisheshika are viewed as a complementary pair, with Nyaya emphasizing logic, and Vaisheshika analyzing the nature of the world. 3. Sankhya: ‘Enumeration, reckoning.’ A philosophy founded by the sage Kapila, author of the Sankhya Sutras. Sankhya is primarily concerned with ‘categories of existence,’ tattvas, which it understands as 25 in number. The first two are the unmanifest purusha and the manifest primal nature, prakriti - the male - female polarity, viewed as the foundation of all existence. Prakriti, out of which all things evolve, is the unity of the three gunas: sattva, rajas and tamas. 4. Yoga: ‘Yoking or joining.’ Ancient tradition of philosophy and practice codified by Patanjali in the Yoga

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Sutras. It is also known as raja yoga, ‘king of yogas,’ or ‘ashtanga yoga,’ – the eight - limbed yoga. Its object is to achieve, at will, the cessation of all fluctuations of consciousness, and the attainment of Self Realization. Yoga is wholly dedicated to putting the high philosophy of Hinduism into practice, to attain personal transformation through transcendental experience as samadhi. 5. Mimamsa: ‘Inquiry’. It is further divided into two. Purva, or early, Mimamsa! It was founded by Jaimini, the author of the Mimamsa Sutras, who taught the correct performance of Vedic rites as the means to salvation. 6. Vedanta: It is also referred to as ‘Uttara’ or later Mimamsa. This forms the ‘End or culmination of the Vedas.’ For Vedanta, the main basis is the Upanishads and Aranyakas or the ‘end,’ or ‘anta’, of the Vedas’, rather than the hymns and ritual portions of the Vedas. The teaching of Vedanta is that there is one Absolute Reality, Brahman. Man is one with Brahman, and the object of life is to realize that truth through right knowledge, intuition and personal experience. The Vedanta Sutras or Brahma Sutras were composed by Rishi Badarayana. And Brahma Sutras begin with – Athato Brahma Jidnyasa

Aqaatao ba`*ma ija&asaa È

It centers on the inquiry of Brahma the ever expanding consciousness. Dnyaneshwar has many dimensions to his being. Inner being flowered in many ways as Poet, Yogi, Bhakta,

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Philosopher and all that human mind cannot even conceive. He advocated both Nirguna as well as Saguna Path depending upon the level of the aspirant. All paths in fact merged in his being or evolved from within. He elevated Namadev from Saguna Bhakti to Nirguna Bhakti. Changadev was a great Yogi who was shown the Path of Dhyana Marg through Muktabai. A path of Yoga and Dhyana was shown to Visoba Khechar, a staunch Brahman who was proficient in Vedantic Studies. Further, Dnyaneshwar’s Dhyana Marga of Nirguna Nirakar is clearly visible in his advaitic composition ‘AMRITANUBHAV.’ We present this work as the confluence of Dnyana and Bhakti; Nirguna and Saguna beyond all dualities. It was Dnyaneshwar who revealed the treasure of Vedanta open to masses, the treasure which was earlier restricted to Brahmans and people who understood Sanskrit. Also the belief was set in those days(which prevails even today) that the HIGHEST TRUTH can be achieved only by Monastic approach or Nivritti Marg or Sanyasa or Renuciation. It was Dnyaneshwar who affirmed that the symbol is irrelevant. The spirit of renunciation is important. Without renouncing the world, by just renouncing the attachment, everyone – whether engaged in worldly activities or a house holder can also realize the HIGHEST TRUTH.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Therefore, to show the path even to ignorant one his compassion overflowed as Haripath. Haripath is a Gita of working Man. Nowhere he preaches that one should give up his worldly duties. Instead, while engaged in any activity, inner awareness is to be maintained. Therefore, Dnyaneshwar gives the “Name” of the Infinite (Abhanga 3). The Nirguna Nirakar Absolute to be worshiped with the Name as SAGUNA DHYANA (Abhanga 9). The most significant aspect of this work is 27 meditations using each Abhanga as a door to reach the inner sanctum and thus coonect to your being. The book in its published form as paper back or hard bound edition comes along with an audio CD containing renditions of these 27 Abhangas and also meditations by Taoshobuddha in his usual mystical way creating grooves in your consciousness. However the E-Book edition does not contain this wondorous Audio CD until an alternative method is discovered. During this period of three months that took to complete the work of nearly 400 pages in its pristine innocence we came in contact with many who have helped in one way or the other in this work. Our first encounter was in Nov 2008 during the annual visit of Taoshobuddha to Boston. He was invited to a south Indian function at a Tamil family. Narration in his own words: ‘I was invited to a wedding anniversary celebration at a friends place. The family was celebrationg the anniversary

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt of his parents. The family Guru has come in from Chennai for the occasion. We reached when the function was already in progress. Passage was cleard for me. And I was asked to be seated on in front of the guru. I opted to sit on ground as a matter of respect. According to Tamil tradition a bride is considered to belong to the family of Radhika and the male to Krishna. It is like performing the wedding ceremony of Radha and Krishna amidst chanting of mantras and reading the lineage of Radha and Krishna. All the singers presnt there sang in the language and style of their choice. I remained meditative all along. All of a sudden the Guru said something pointing towards me to the host. At this my friend said that I do not sing. The Guru spoke in the native language unknown to me saying that guru wants from me a discourse. Instantaneously I decided to speak the story of Vitthal to explain Shaivitte and Vaishnavite aspects. After the talk virtually everyone approached me for the talk.’ And this year when I mentioned to these persons that I have started work of Haripath of Dnyandev one of them sang the first Abhanga for me.’ We acknowledge the love of these and in particular Vijay in this regard. In addition Rishi Bhatia his family, Mohan Samlal and his wife, Subhash Sehgal and many others need mention. On a daily basis the people who meditated and needed deeper explanations, we remember you all. Our

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt correspondence between Taoshobuddha and Hemant Moghe are very important. Separated by a time zone it was communication beyond time and space. It was during such sessions we decided that we will let someone else do the foreword. A few names surfaced. Among these the response came from Anil Sohoni from Pune. No words can explain the understanding, sincerity, aspiration and love that Anil ji exhibited. It is preserved in our being and shall continue to echo from there. We are

grateful towards Sant Dnyaneshwar for coming into our life. And we aspire Dnyandev enchant you life as well. Together we express our deep gratitude towards our parents and specially the mother of Hemant. For mother, is always a mother and for she led Hemant to the essence of Haripath.

Vasant Kher, a reservoir of many talents and qualities, is so enchanted by the beauty and teachings of Haripath that he created an audio CD. This is a beauty that connects the listener immediately to Dnyaneshwar. The rendering became very effective and assertive in soul stirring and melodious voice of Prof. Krishnakumar Gawand. To this, beautiful music of Rony G. and Madhu Kurup added a new dimension thus creating total ambience for Haripath Dhyana Sadhna. As the sound flows it seems riding the swift wings of the swan, the listener are carried to a new realm. They are all worthy of much praise and blessings from Almighty. I had never in wildest dream thought of publishing such kind of work. It is very kind of Taoshobuddha to have put my name with him. (I have to flow with Divine will‌ Hemant! You have no choice but to flow with it.) As the days went by and work progressed we became even more convinced of the will of the saint.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Taoshobuddha has captured the essence of Dnyandev perfectly when fluently he overflowed the essence through the meditations. Each time I read the meditations emotions overflowed profusely. I cannot express this in words. Each step was a confirmation of Dnyandev’s Will and grace. I became even more convinced that the spirit of Dnyandev is speaking to us through the instrument of Taoshobuddha’s being. We are sure when you are going through the compositions the same will happen to you as well. This is our certitude. This is the message from the heart. Allow it to flow freely in you and the rest the energy field of the master will do. This particular work is the confluence of Bhakti as Taoshobuddha overflowed the essence of Dnyandev day after day. You will find the invisible Sarasvati flowing as undercurrent, the spirit of Dnyandev and the Sadhana of Taoshobuddha makes it easy for us to take the holy bath at such confluence. Last but not least, Anil Sohoni, an accomplished sadhak himself with purity of heart soaked in Guru Bhakti, just by casual mention agreed to do the foreword. When you read the foreword you will be convinced of delight and inner beauty that has assumed the form of words as Anil Ji flowed through these pages. This preface is unique in many ways. At times it is Taoshobuddha speaking and other times it is Hemant Moghe. But there is so much coherence in the overflow that it has become a confluence of bhakti. It seems both the streams of Taoshobuddha, and Hemant Moghe have merged in the invisible undercurrent of Dnyandev to create this offering to an enchanted heart. And in the process of

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt creating this confluence many other tributaries have flowed in and disappeared in the ocean of bliss‌. Love

Haripath My Life, My Being! Hemant Moghe

hrI muoe< Mh[a hrI muoe< Mh[a , pu{yacI g[na kae[ krI.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Chanting Haripath is sublime. Nectarine and life invigorating! Its merits are infinite yet beyond human cognition! Oh! My friend chant Haripath! Haripath is my life my being. Without Haripath my life is meaningless and barren. Whenever problems and difficulties stare in my face traversing along the life’s journey, a verse of Haripath rejuvenates my spirit. And once again with certitude and courage journey continues.

H

aripath is the manure of compassion that prepares any aspirant for inner flowering. Haripath is the light along the path of inward journey. And for that matter Haripath comes as the light of bliss and harmony to guide each aspirant through life’s journey both inner and outer. From the ancient times Rishis or seers who attained the highest consciousness, found the greatest truth or the essence of the existence. They achieved the highest experience! Experience of God realization! The realization which is beyond the realm of sense perception! The experience which is beyond the logic or reason too! The experience which is beyond the words, and remains indescribable yet the experience is full of Bliss – the Ultimate Joy, which no words are incapable of carrying its true essence. Yet these wise men, who are full of compassion towards the humanity, wanted to share their bliss, the glimpses of highest realization – the Eternal Joy with fellow - men and used the words as the vehicle to guide the aspirants on the

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt path to God Realization. It seems in the hands of these masters the words too become enlightened. Therefore the same words when used by the seer or saint radiate inner Bliss –the hidden meaning to enable the humanity in general to move from Darkness to Light. Out of gratitude they sing the Glory of the Lord and his name. These words, from their compassionate heart, overflowing with the nectar of their experience, shower their Love and Bliss on the aspirant who wishes to connect to them. Dnyaneshwar’s Hari Path sings the Glory of the Lord, his name and God – Realization in words that even an ordinary person is able to understand – the words which are capable of reaching the inner core of heart. Each person desires freedom – freedom from pain – and happiness. Hari Path teaches that the Center of Centers of the Happiness is within us and it can be reached with the help of the “NAME”. Ordinarily object and its name differ from one another; as a result a thirsty person wants the object – water to quench his thirst and not the word – water. But Saints say, such is not so with the Lord. The Lord and his “Name” are one. There is one – ness. Undoubtedly there is Unity. Dnyaneshwar declares there is nothing of a greater value than the “Name”. The “Name” connects the aspirant with the ultimate – the God so as to ultimately become one – Unity. This is Unity or the Advaita of the aspirant, the Lord and the Lord’s name. Also it is essential to merge into the Ultimate consciousness of one-ness.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt Fortunately I am from a family which respects Saints, their literature and tries to follow the teachings. Out of great interest, in order to satisfy the intellectual quest, I read and studied Philosophy to a great deal. It was during a very testing period in my life, my mother gave me a small booklet of Haripath to go through. This was perhaps the most fortunate moment in my life. I never knew earlier that simplicity could be so profound. As I started reading the booklet, I was enchanted by its profundity which is expressed in the simplicity of the language and its expression. The expression had soothing effect on my body mind mechanism. I was captivated by Haripath as a honeybee is enchanted by the beauty of the petals of a flower.

hirpazI gaolao to inavaaMtica zolao È Ba`mar gauMtlao saumana kilako È È One who follows the Haripath Certainly rests in peace and contentment Like a bee in search of honey Indeed gets enwrapped in closed petals of a flower. This was the time I realized that instead of mere intellectual reading it is more important to know how to live the essence or the way of Dnyaneshwar. This is possible only in the company of Saint. Beyond the finiteness of the body his presence is felt through his words and you are connected to him – who is already merged in ONE-NESS. Inner harmony happens spontaneously with this connection.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt It so happened that my cousin also went through a very difficult phase in his professional life as a result of trying to search for a solution with logic, reason and intellect. It was during our interaction; I gave him the book of Haripath and requested him to go through. After about two months he told me that with the help of Haripath he was able to find his way. The things that are beyond logic and reason can indeed be discovered with the help of Haripath. As Krishna narrated the message of Bhagwad Gita to Arjuna, the Man of Action so too Dnyaneshwar’s Haripath is for people engaged in Action. In its simplicity it explains that Sanyasa or renunciation is inward and not outward. One can be in the world and yet still the world will not be within. As I read the Haripath again and again and contemplated upon it, I realized that Dnysheshwar’s Hari Path is like a guided tour on the Path to Ultimate. The 27 Abhangas which otherwise appear not to be connected with each other do have a definite order – or like beads woven in the thread or Sutra. Dnyaneshwar describes the way so that anyone following these guidelines - step by step - reaches the Ultimate. The essence of these beads can be summarized as under. 1. The Lord resides in his name. 2. There is no existence but the Lord. All the scriptures proclaim only this. Do not go haywire in woods of

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt arguments and counter arguments. The essence of Individual and the Universe is one and that is Lord. 3. The manifestations or the embodiments are not the True Essence. The True Essence is beyond. The True Essence is FORMLESS without any attributes. From this True Essence the World of Manifestations comes into being. Hari Path is the contemplation of this - what is essence – and what is not essence. What is Sat - st! and what is Asat - –Ast!

4. To connect with the Lord – the True Essence, Bhakti – _aiKt - the firm attachment with the Lord is the most essential. Bhakti cannot exist without the Bhava –_aav - the Astitva Bhava (AiStTv _aav)– the firm conviction of the existence of Lord. The Hari Path or the contemplation will help liberation from the attachments which cause pain. 5. With the Bhava _aav and Bhakti _aiKt as one sets himself

on the path to inner journey, he receives the guidance of the Master – Guru – who is nothing but the embodiment of The Infinite – The Lord.

6. Guru kindles the flame – the Light of Divine Consciousness to ultimately merge into one – ness. 7. Then comes the Realization - that the Pure Bliss is filled everywhere – the one – ness which is omnipresent.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt The Individual consciousness merges into Pure Bliss which pervades everything and every body. All the actions are then God’s will and do not attract Karmic Binding. 8. Hari Path or the Naamasmaran takes one to the same destination as that of the Path of Yoga. HARI PATH IS THE ADVAIT –SADHANA. 9. “Name” is the meditation of Infinite. On the demolition of boundaries of separation one merges – dissolves into the Infinite Ocean of One-ness. Guru destroys all the walls of separation. 10. Naame Tinhi Lok Uddharati. This one - ness makes one transcend the three planes of Consciousness - Physical Bhuh, Mental - Bhuvah, and Spiritual Svah. The “Name” takes the aspirant to beyond - ness, liberating him from the pain at three levels. 11. In the Core of the Fire – the innermost Fire – which is beyond the perception - all the seeds of Ego are burnt. The action becomes non-action. This is God’s Will. This does not result in Karmic Binding. This is the Naishkarma Siddhi. The art of ‘action but no-action’. 12. When one reaches this Center of Centers - the beyondness, God – Realization is then as tangible as a fruit in the hand. 13. On the Path the aspirant comes across accomplishment - Siddhis. Here is the word of caution. These

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt accomplishments will inflate the Ego and cause deviation from the Path if the mind does not rest in Eternal Bliss. 14. Therefore continue the Sadhana with sincerity and devotion. 15. The Sadhak is endowed with Shamadamadi ShatSampatti. The realization comes to Sadhak that his true Essence shines as a bright sun illuminating the entire Cosmos. 16. Now the Siddhis cannot bother him. He is the Master. He is the embodiment of higher accomplishments (Siddhi), Intellect (Buddhi) and Righteousness (Dharma). In his company people seek inner peace and joy. 17. Such Master can rekindle the flame of divinity in those who connect to him. 18. Therefore, connect to the Divine Name and the Divine company. Otherwise, by following wandering mind you will be no-where. 19. Verse 19 onwards Dnyaneshwar gives the summary. God is Essence – essence of all Scriptures. He is the only resort. 20. The Path of “Name” is simplest of all paths. Do not underestimate it because of its simplicity. 21. There are no restrictions. Anybody can take this Path. No restriction of time and space. It is beyond both, time and space. It is a savior of both.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt

22. Do not ignore the Path of “Name” because of its simplicity. The greatness of “Name” is greater than the sky above. 23. The ONE – becomes many but the “Name” corresponds only to ONE – the Lord. Thus it helps seek One – ness. 24. Bhava – that Lord exists and He is the pure Essence of all the beings – must be well established. 25. Whether one is learned or not learned – the Realization is the same. The Lord is beyond the reach of scriptures. 26. The “Name” is the only Truth – the Ultimate. Utter with LOVE. Once it penetrates all the layers of consciousness and settles deep in the innermost heart, the Chanting becomes Ajapajap. Action becomes no – action. The Sadhak becomes serene even amidst action. 27. Now the Last Word – the Bharat Vakya – a) “Name” is the Essence – only Truth of all scriptures. It is Essence of the Nectar of Happiness, Joy, Bliss. a) Therefore, never be idle without “Name” even for a moment. Make a firm commitment to stay connected with “Name” – this is your true SELF – true identity. b) Never fall prey to senses. Senses deceive.

Haripath Advait Dhyana Sadhana - Excerpt c) Shanti, Daya, Karuna - these are the qualities of the Lord and these Divine qualities attract the Lord, as the willing guest. d) This UNION or ONE-NESS with the LORD is SANJEEVAN SAMADHI- Life restoring Union – THE DEATHLESS STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS. When I look back, my heart is filled with joy, wonder and awe. I stand in reverence in front of the wish of the saint that the casual acquaintance could result in bringing about this great work together with Taoshobuddha. Taoshobuddha has explained the essence of Haripath with his succulent flow and understanding. It is the rhythm and harmony of such overflows that will help the reader to reach the essence of the Dnyaneshwar, the master and the guide in the pursuit of seeking peace. Taoshobuddha has done commendable job of bringing out the essence of Dnyaneshwar for the benefit of those who can understand English and are on the path to one - ness. Therefore my friend, make Haripath your companion along life’s journey. Whenever you are faced with a difficult situation and you find no solution chant a verse here and there from Haripath. A new life force will begin to flow through your veins and resurrected your journey will continue. This is my certitude. And this I speak on my own authority.
