TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Adam McLean has been a teacher for 8 years and a musician his whole life. He learned to sing, play guitar, drums and piano through jamming with family and friends. “I had 1 on 1 music lessons as a kid and I found the intensity and time to be too much, learning with friends was much more fun!”. Through Adam’s experience as a teacher and musician he has created a learning style which encompasses discovery, and creativity. All kids give each instrument a go, and learn together. Singing and jamming together as a group develops a lifelong passion for music which begins an exciting musical journey!
COST: $200 per 9 week term AGES: Year level 4 – 6 SKILL LEVEL: All skill levels from beginner to advanced. Different skills sets creates a stronger learning environment, where they teach each other. TIME: 3:00pm – 3:15pm Have afternoon tea. Have a run around, chat or jam. 3:15pm – 4:15pm Session 4:15pm Pick up
Adam lives in Mount Maunganui with his wife and son. He has balanced both roles as a teacher and musician for 8 years, but in 2019 is dedicating his time to the music industry. Performing at various functions, restaurants and events has given Adam a vast insight into the world of live music. As well as performing, Adam is the founder and manager of Bay Originals, a local original music community organising concerts and events. He was the artist and stage manager to the inaugural, Bloom in the Bay, which showcased 4 days of live music alongside gardens and art. Although Adam is involved in many projects in the music world, he is excited to keep his teaching profession alive through Bay Music School.

Social media: All parents will need to sign a waiver to let Bay Music School upload photos and videos to their facebook, instagram and YouTube accounts. This is done for sharing and promotional reasons and also to inspire other young people to give music a go!

However, being immersed in a music environment and culture can only add passion and enthusiasm to a child wanting to take it further. Because of this, we do not promise skilled learning of each instrument. We do promise that they will be encouraged and engaged to want to give it a go, which can lead to further development.
