graph ____Decrypt To get some inspiration for my logo and business card I started looking at graphic trends on WGSN. These are some of the designs I felt were visually the strongest. The urban envionment is a key influencer for this trend, creating surface detail through photocopied and inteference-like textures inspired by city grids and urban mapping.

trend __s Abbreviated slogans emerge as a new form of graphic communication. All-over type patterns create a striking effect. The break up of phrasing and random arrangements inspire interesting designs and the experimentation of type sizes create maximum impact.
Typography takes a scrambled and spliced approach, reinterpreting slogans and messages reflecting a dark, lo-fi encoded vibe. Different typographic placements and oversized single word messages are important to create bold contrasting colour.
I am immediately drawn to the juxtaposition of colour against bold lettering. It is high impact and adds unique layering effects to ordinary imagery.
Looking at graphic trends and visual inspiration from a number of sources, I began understanding my aesthetic style further. Art and illustration have always been a huge inspiration behind a lot of my work until I recently developed a more graphic, minimal approach to design. I am visually drawn to pieces of work that combine different graphic elements and artistic styles to create a unique and striking image. Using my own collages and illustrations I began placing designs into geometric shapes to create a visual aesthetic representative of me.
exper i tation
My designs began to present a prominent shape that I found visually pleasing. Without realising, the four triangles formed the initial of my name so I developed this further removing the top two and replacing them with a simple black line. Exploring the possibilities around my initials I decided that this shape best represented my name with the angular lines emulating those found in T and F.
men When looking at different shapes I was immediately drawn to the diamond with its structural composition and geometric lines. It is simple but striking and formed the basis of my development. I wanted to create a logo completely representative of myself so I took the initial inspiration from the diamond and began experimenting designing my own shapes, breaking down structural form and re-creating it in interesting formations.

Using the lines in my initials I began joining them together, experimenting with stroke weight and duplicating shapes, using some of my artwork to insert colour and pattern.

This was the first business card I developed, a plain white background with my logo central within it. I wanted to keep it simple and graphic but after revisiting it later on in the year, I began to find it quite dull and unrepresentative of myself as a fashion creative. Instead I decided to revisit my early illustrations and play around more with colour and composition. The striking blue stands out to me the most and the juxtaposition of the white logo layered on top has a much higher impact on the viewer. I also wanted to change the initial writing on the back of the card. After researching into typographic trends and the development of my own visual aesthetic throughout this year, I decided I wanted to create something more interesting, experimenting with bold lettering and abbreviation.
Initial Design
I chose to take forward this design as my final logo as it represents my graphic approach to design work whilst combining my love for colour and passion for art. The simplistic nature of the shape itself allows me to play around with pattern and colour in different forms, which could translate really nicely onto my visual CV and other design documents.

card
Taking the original triangle from my business card I started to duplicate it several times to see if I could create something more visually exciting. I increased the saturation of colour having previously made it more translucent, to enhance the colours and liven it up a bit. I really like the contrast of all the colours against eachother and feel like incorporating a few of my paintings and illustrations has produced a much more striking image. I have used a mix of white and black for the actual logo line colouring making sure it worked with the coloured design in the background. The typography on the back of the card also works better with this new design, I have still incorporated symmetry in the lettering but with a much more fluid approach arranging information in a graphic yet random way. The bold letters in the grid shape have also inspired some design ideas for my visual CV.

On my visual CV and covering letter I have incorporated the previous artwork I used in my business card, alternating the colours and placement of text. Incorporating bold lines of colour and repeating them throughout the page creates a graphic visual and will give employers a better insight into my design aesthetic. I have made sure the designs are inkeeping with my business card and logo so all of my work has a strong visual message throughout and communicates my creativity.
