ow!

there’s no way you could know me.

I suddenly had an urge to draw on my own arm.

just a coincidence.

but I never knew it would end up like this.

it looks like a snake.

ok, a snake then!

if only it were alive...

MOM, LOOK AT THiS! THiS SNAKE iS ALiVE! WHAT’S WRONG? SNAKE? WHAT on earth ARE YOU DOiNG? CAN you wash that out ok? ARE YOU HALF-ASLEEP? Why can’t she see it like me?

is it only visible to ME?

WHY iS this lizard in my house? and why is he standing?

it must be a shock to find me here, but please calm down. I’ ll explain what’s going on.

it’s a long story, but please hear me out.

it’s talking? am I dreaming?

you can talk? wait, I think I remember... ah, now I got it! yeah, so what?

where do I begin?

I have the same ink power as you.

it was about five years ago.

a blue pen fell on my head.

humans seem to think that animals can’t behave in the same way as them. it was pretty normal after that. I could walk on my hind legs and speak naturally.

I had a favorite teddy bear. his name was oibo.

he got splashed with ink too.

oibo could move by himself. it made me notice the power of ink for the first time. I was very happy because oibo had a will.

from here on it’s all just guesswork, but I think a unique world exists within this one. in other words, humans have a world only they can feel in, and animals have their own world.

humans are the dominant power at the center of both worlds.

but humans don’ t know who we really are, because they see themselves as above us. though we may be below humans, we understand your language and behavior.

but still, we can’t really see the true from of weak plants and stuffed animals.

as I said, we think we are better than them, so we only see them as helpless.

this blue ink can eliminate the boundaries of each world. only for those with the ink power, however.

this is just a hypothesis, so I don’t know if it is true or not.

I still don’ t understand it well.

I also struggled to get it.

oibo and I were studying the power of ink. there were no clues, of course. we tried the computer, but there was no information.

one day oibo disappeared.

I want to find oibo. I need to know more about the secret of this power. it’s impossible alone. I need a friend. I follwed the faint sent of the ink to get here.

apparently the power of this ink seems to make my abillty to smell stronger, too.

were you able to find oibo? I looked for him, of course, but I couldn’t feel anything.

we must have come across something when we were looking into the ink.

nice timing. I was just using the ink a little while ago.

you are human. I was looking for someone like you. my real purpose is to find the root of this power, and save oibo.

if this is all true, there is something I want to try.

I marked the soles of the feet of my favorite toy with ink.

if there is a toy world, then this should also move, right?

of course.

it definltely started to move.

what did you draw on the bottom of my foot?

amazing! black banana is talking!

you are the same as us now.

what!? the lizard is speaking! everyone who talks to me for the first time says the same thing.

the same thing?

the first thing that people say is the same... no, no, what do you mean by, “the same as us? I mean, we all have the power of ink. everything the ink touches gains power.

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

do I have to explain it all from the beginning... ?

20 minutes later...

I get it, I guess. by the way, why choose me?

because I like you.

I know I’m a bad guy, but I don’t know what kind of person I really am. teach me.

you’re from a comic called “max”.

I get stronger when I eat ripe bananas... weird.

you like strange characters like me? I don’ t get it.

I don’ t judge a book by it’ s cover. you’re a bad guy, but you sometimes help the hero and do what others don’ t want to do. I like that balance.

what do you mean “does what others don’ t want to do”? you eat rotten bananas.

that’s the source of my power. it doesn’t help people.

say what you want, I like you.

if you’re a bad guy, you can never be a good guy. I always wanted to be a toy hero.

well, it’s a matter of appearance. I’m not a black banana.

I’m sorry. there’s been no one to tell my story too, so I said some bad things. toys can’t choose what they will be. are you the same?

just then, I remembered that I had always dreamed of being a hero when I was young.

I wanted to be a hero too.

I drew a springer eye mask on some paper with a blue pen.

the picture didn’ t move, however.

hey, where did that lizard go?

I... I didn’t see.

how well do you know him?

I didn’t know his name or where he came from.

did he leave? come to think of it, I’ve never seen the outside world myself.

really? well then, let me show you.

those people, what are they doing?

in front of us there was a man pulling at a woman’ s bag.

the guy broke away, and started running straight for us!

to be continued...
