PROFESSIONAL PROMOTION AND MARKETING IN EUROPE Target Group and Mighty Music has its own in-house promotion department with more than 15 years of experience in promoting Danish and international artists. Over the years, we have promoted and marketed everything from Toto, Morrissey, Sinead O’Connor and MotÜrhead, Illdisposed and Hatesphere, Mike Patton, Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa, and on the domestic front, we have been behind the launch of albums for Malk De Koijn, Volbeat, Mike Tramp, Kellermensch and Pretty Maids. Futhermore we have been promoting our in-house label Mighty Music since 1997 and have through this promoted all kinds of hard rock and metal, death metal, black metal, doom metal, thrash metal, goth rock, industrial etc. Over the years, we have build up a very big network of contacts in the international medias within the rock and metal genres, and can service a release to rock and metal press internationally.

Our main territories are Scandinavia, GSA, BeNeLux, France, Italy and UK. We work closely with magazines such as Rock Hard (D), Deaf Forever (D), Metal Ham-

mer (D), Legacy (D), Orkus (D), Sonic Seducer (D), Classic Rock (D), Classic Rock (UK, Aardschok (NL), Rock Tribune (B), Kerrang! (UK), Terrorizer (UK), Scream (N), Norway Rock (N), Metallian (F), Hard Rock (F), Close-Up (S), Sweden Rock (S), Metalized (DK), Gaffa (DK), Rock It (I), and many more.

In the US, we have our own Mighty Music US office run by Rich Lee, who is taking care of all US rock/ metal promotion and who have many years of experience and a big solid network within the US rock/metal press.

The wide range of artists have prepared us to navigate familiar around in the international music industry, whether it comes to dialogue with the media, graphic designers, directors, photographers, sponsors or other external partners. Advice and dialogue is therefore an important part of the first phase of promotion and marketing activities.

In close collaboration with the artists and record companies we represent, we prepare detailed strategies for how we can best communicate the message of each artist clearest and most clearly out to the Danish and/or international press.

- P3, P4, P5, P6 Beat and the wide range of commercial and local radios. We also pitch often for daily, weekly and annual TV shows. Futhermore we also have great contact to a wide selection of underground blogs and webzines.

In consultation with the artist or label, we plan a timeline of activity, and are happy to contribute to the design of catchy and precise press releases and biographies as well as sharpen the current profile of the individual artist. A detailed promo plan is the backbone of our work.

We are also frequently present in the Danish live environment, and can organize press activities associated with appearances at Roskilde Festival Orange scene as well as a small intimate listening session or release party.

Of course, our native Denmark is still our main market. We have daily or weekly contact with all of the Danish medias be it the big daily, newspapers, free newspapers, webzines, monthly magazines, TV or radios. We plug regularly at DR (Danish National Radio)

TARGET PROMO-TEAM Christian Beyer

Christian was born in 1980 and has worked with music since 1995, when he started at Radio SLR in Slagelse, as radio host for various music-oriented shows, and for metal-show ‘Steelworks’. In 2000 Christian was employed

by TP Music in Slagelse, where he had built a rock and metal scene, which quickly developed further to he arrange rock and metal concerts. Christian joined Target in 2005, responsible for sales in Denmark and abroad, and has thereby worked with bands like Volbeat, Morrissey, Malk De Koijn, Pretty Maids, Manowar, Gojira, Motörhead, Morbid Angel, Whitesnake and Kellermensch. Christian is currently responsible for rock / metal promotion abroad, and still responsible for all sales in Denmark and abroad to retail and online stores. Christian also participates in the country’s best music quizzes and arranges his own music quiz on Zeppelin Rockbar in Copenhagen once a month.

Peter Mesnickow

Peter was born in 1979 and has 20 years experience on VME (Voices Music & Entertainment), where he has worked with Danish artists like Martin Hall, Tue West, Kenneth Bager, Agnes Obel, Saturnus, Alberte Winding, LOC, The Savage Rose, and many more. Additionally, he has been involved in the promotion and label management for companies like Nuclear Blast, Warp, Secretly Canadian and others, and has also worked with promotion and marketing in Denmark for acts like Nightwish, Manowar, Bright Eyes, Editors, Dimmu Borgir, Damien Jurado, Antony & The Johnsons, Sufjan Stevens, and many more. Besides, he has driven the Copenhagen goth/industrial event club The Black Cat in 15 years. Peter has been part of Target since 2013, and is involved in the promotion, A & R, merchandise and product management. Futhermore Peter is the vocalist of the bands Blazing Eternity and Black Wreath.

Frederik Schnoor

Frederik was born in 1986 and has en extensive experience from the music- and culture business, both as press officer, concert organizer, and performing artist. Since 2010 he has worked for CPH:DOX (film festival), The Danish Musicians Union, and World Music Denmark, as well as organizing concerts through his own booking agency, Deluxe Booking. Frederik has a masters degree in Modern Culture, and is the leader of his own bluesrock band Freddy and the Phantoms.

Natalie Mortensen

Natalie was born in 1989 and is PR assistant at Target. She is a singer/songwriter, and she has worked at musical- and theatre Publishing house, Nordiska with responsibility for orchestra material. She has also worked as a Volunteer at such festivals as Skanderborg og Uhørt! festival. In December she graduated a course in Innovative Music Management. Furthermore Natalie is a journalist at the music magazine Bands of Tomorrow an manages Target’s venue Zeppelin.

Rich Lee

Rich grew up in the 80s-90s Washington DC punk/metal scene touring North America as a “roadie/driver/merchandizer” for several years with The Rhythm Pigs (El Paso punk band) and even just helping out at shows in general, while also working for a few record store chains in the North East as a metal buyer and doing “man on the street” album and regional concert promotions for Combat, Relativity/Earache and Noise. He was one of those people that made his own crude fliers promoting upcoming gigs, and dropped them off in every club and record store he could find just to get the word out. Although there was almost no money in it, but he did this for the passion for the music and hoped it would eventually get him a foot in the door. he was honored to promote tours for Death, Fates Warning, Coroner, Armored Saint and many others. Eventually he relocated to Tampa which at the time was considered to be “The Death Metal Capitol of the World” and was lucky enough to secure a job at Ace’s Records. When the owner sold the business I felt it was time to move on.

Rich moved again to New York City to pursue a career in the music industry and was crushed at the fact that he was barely able to make a living and had to retire from the game. He has always believed that things come full circle and getting the chance to work with the people at Mighty Music/Target is a great opportunity to prove that he can succeed at what I had set out to do many years ago.

To Rich this isn’t just a job, because he believe in the bands and music he is promoting!!
