Innovative new interpretation of classic forms An innovative and comfortable LED light source lies at the heart of this spectacular Louis Poulsen product. Louis Poulsen developed the Silverback wall and ceiling light in close cooperation with the KiBiSi design group. Combining a classic shape with an inventive design, this luminaire sets a new standard for the integration of lighting in architecture.

Silverback blends in seamlessly Through its ingenious design, Silverback illuminates the background within its framework, thereby softening the boundary between the fixture and the wall/ ceiling surface. This soft transition is achieved with a semi-transparent metallized backing that allows light to pass through, creating a neutral illumination of the wall/ ceiling. Whether lit or unlit, the metallization results in a halo-effect that visually connects the product with its architectural surface. This morphing effect expands the fixture’s potential areas of application.
Opal acrylic prevents uncomfortable glare and provides an even light expression without LED dots. When lit, Silverback offers a subdued surface luminance revealing a three-dimensional effect, which accents the product’s shape. Specially designed LED board ensures ideal illumination of both the fixture’s shape and the surroundings. Easy to attach to rear housing.

LED light source at the heart of the fixture Silverback has an adaptable design and nearly incomparable aesthetics. Its spectacular construction makes the product harmonious in its unlit state, while its reflective rear side and specially designed LED light source amplifies the design when illuminated. The high-efficiency LEDs have been rendered glare-free by placing them at just the right distance from the diffuser’s opal surface, down to millimeter precision. Not only is there an extremely even illumination of the
surface, the light source design takes into account the shape of the fixture. The LED light source has been designed so that a reduction in the intensity of the light at the surface’s point of inflection results in a subdued luminance which clearly and decoratively accentuates the fixture’s harmonic shape when lit. The light intensity has also been carefully regulated to eliminate any uncomfortable glare.

KiBiSi was founded in Copenhagen by Lars Larsen, Bjarke Ingels Group and Jens Martin Skibsted. Silverback Ceiling/Wall LED Design: KiBiSi Light Concept: The fixture emits diffused light. The opal curved diffuser provides a soft and comfortable spatial lighting, while the metallized rear half of the product produces a decorative halo-like illumination on the ceiling or wall surface. The metallized surface also creates a mirror effect, reflecting the texture, color or material of the installation surface. 4.3"
