LITERARY BORDERS More and more international publishing houses, cultural institutions and media take part in the International Book Fair in Krakow each year. International exhibitors share their ideas, experience and best practices for sustainable cultural development. Active in various fields of creative endeavour, they provide the space for building literary potential, promotion and a channel of communication between writers and readers. In a world that is a global village where cultural differences are blurred, international exhibitors show the advantages of capitalizing on the local in the best sense of the word: one that defends its distinct character but is not averse to new patterns and behaviours, one that draws from tradition and modernity, one that guarantees respect for the other, but also cultivates its roots. Thanks to its international participants, the autumn event not only becomes a venue for the promotion of good literature and meetings with authors but also offers a space for exchanging ideas, getting to know one another and encouraging dialogue between different literary traditions. Every year since 2013, the International Book Fair in Krakow has chosen one country as an Guest of Honour. A series of meetings, discussions and workshops organized in the Honorary Guest Salon creates an unique opportunity to launch cooperation between Polish and international publishers and cultural institutions.
