Job Opportunity: Research Assistant for Precarious Work in Context Project TASC is seeking to recruit a research assistant for a project on ‘Precarious Work in Context’. This project is co-funded by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and is a continuation of TASC’s 'Working Conditions in Ireland Project'. The project is under the direction of Professor James Wickham. The core activity of the research assistant will involve an extensive series of semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and the coding of the resultant transcripts. The research will also involve:
desk research on precarious work and its context
collation and analysis of relevant statistical material
The researcher will also:
liaise with appropriate NGOs, trade unions and relevant organisations
be responsible for co-ordinating research meetings
contribute to research reports
be involved in the organisation of project events
The successful candidate will have a relevant social science master’s degree and experience of qualitative interviewing. An interest in economic sociology and/or social policy is essential. Experience of using NVivo or similar qualitative data analysis software is an advantage. The appointment will be for a period of twelve months. Salary will be at an appropriate point on the Irish University Association research assistant scale.
