I am a self-motivated and detail-oriented RIBA Part 1 graduate with a passion for sustainable design that fosters community well-being. I am eager to grow, enhance my knowledge and showcase my proactive approach and willingness to take on additional responsibilities that will build my experience ahead of my Part 2 qualification. With proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop and a solid understanding of UK Planning and Building Regulations, I am keen to contribute to OSG’s dynamic and forward-thinking projects. Available to start immediately under a Graduate Visa.

A Visit to the Standen House, Group Work, 2023

Project Overview

An analysis of the Standen House Spet 2023 - Nov 2023

Worked together as a unit to replicate key architectural moments within the Standen House to understand craftsmenship and intricate level of details.

Group Members: Alfie Randall, Paco Chan, Shen Ta

The creation of a pattern book for Standen House made from group work. The book explores and examines key details and architectural moments, relationships, and motifs of the Arts and Crafts movement .

Project Overview

A short interventional scheme at the Tower Gardens.

Oct 2023 - Nov 2023

This primer project aims to study and analyse Bruce Grove as a place as a whole and to develop an interventional scheme in The Tower Gardens Estate that responds to its rich social and cultural context. The aim of the project was to open up an introverted space, and turning it into a lively and bright gathering space for residents through a series of experiential play stations. The understanding of this new space is meant to inform a change.

This project aims to tackle the London Housing Crisis and the pressing need for more housing through densification.

The central theme of the project is to design a low-rise, high-density residential scheme on a constrained brownfield site in the densely populated Tower Gardens Estate in Bruce Grove, Tottenham. Paying close attention to what already exitsts, the end proposal reflects the exisitng rhythms and ideals of the Arts and Crafts Movement of the estate.

Housing Typologies

Providing 4 different housing typologies of varying sizes, ranging from a 2 persons flat to a 4 persons house.

Following Odhams Walk, the housing typologies are arranged so that the density going up decreases, where larger dwellings are organized on the lower floors.

Type A: 2 persons flat

Gallery walks - Views to nature at different levels
Views through the depth of the plan.

Type B: 3 persons flat

Located on the ground and first floor. The collection of rooms serves four main functions; the hall, the kitchen, the living room and the bedroom.

Boldness of the entrance. The recessed entrance and the continuous use of terracotta tile from in the outside in and inside out, forming a close connection with nature and the built environment.
Living room - ‘Seen as a rendezvous space, linking arrival, kitchen and garden.’ Windows that open up to nature, providing an everchanging colouration of the experience of the season.

Type C(2): 4 persons house

The housing typology adopts the ‘upside-down’ housing concept, where the bedrooms are located on the ground floor while the living and dining room are located on the first floor. This way, the living spaces are able to receive light and views.

Stair used to enhance the perception of volume. 4 Type C2 flats in total.

Biodiversity Net Gains

Understanding the value of nature by allowing biodiversity net gains on site. Permeable resin paving is used, which complies with SUDS, actively contributing to flood prevention.

CLT Structural Strategy - Pre-fabricated CLT panels

CLT pre-fabricated panels. Each panels are pre-fabricated, including cut outs for windows and doors. Th external walls act as load-bearing elements due to its high tensile strength.

The CLT panels will then be cladded in a corrugated metal external cladding.

Project

Reimagine the old goods yard Increasing levels of car usage

Usk is a small town in Wales and the theme of he studio is to create a catalyst for change; exploring on Usk’s history of being a crafts place. Here, a maker’s studio is proposed, linking its lost cultural heritage thus fostering change in contemporary context. Here, the process of pottery is understood, allowing for a place where the process defines the quality of the potter’s space.

4. A public cafe

A public cafe with a pavillion on a spilling garden to allow users to take breaks and enjoy the picturesque view of the river.

3. A community workshop

A fun and exciting space for Usk’s community to learn about its old cultural heritage. Here, the process of pottery making defines the quality of space.

5. A gallery space

Allowing users to showcase their work to the community, creating a space where creative individuals would be able to exchange ideas.

6. An educational space

Proposing a space for students and professionals to develop their educational journey in a maker’s town.

7. An inner courtyard

Providing a quiet space for users; away from the busy highway.

1. The site

Located nearby a picturesque riverbank and on the site of a historic railway station. The site has different contours and topography of various height, creating an opportunity for views.

2. A connection

Reconnecting the old railroad bridge to Coleg Dwent and providing a new active travel route to minimize the use of cars.

The concept

Identifying the kiln as the heart of the process of pottery making. The plans and section of both pottery studios plays with the process of pottery making, that defines the quality of space.

Project Overview

A Link Between Cyfarthfa’s Historically Rich Sites

Feb 2023

The project welcomes the reconnection between two Merthyr Tydfil’s historical sites, Cyfarthfa Castle and Cyfarthfa Ironworks. The viewing tower on the East of the Castle provides elevated views to the surrounding castle courtyards, the lake and most importantly the Cyfarthfa Ironworks site 600m away.

Steel scaffolding covers the castle to protect it from the ongoing ambush from the harsh, local weather.
